TIPTON COUNTY, TN Wills & Probates "M"
I, William A. Miller of Tipton County State of Tennessee do make constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows. 1st - It is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid from the debts due me or from the sale of my property which I shall hereafter direct to be sold. 2nd - I give my daughter, Virginia, one bed and furniture & the half of my bed clothing, her mother's trunk and its contents. 3rd - I give my two sons, William and Thomas, my best bed and furniture and the remaining half of my bed clothing and my rifle gun. 4th - I give my son, Wm Barba, my large family Bible and one trunk. 5th - I give my son, Thomas, my large Testament, Dodgenders Rise & Progress and one trunk. 6th - It is my wish that my executors hereafter named sell my tract of land lying in Tipton County on such credits as may to them seem best for the interest of my estate. 7th - It is my will and desire the balance of estate except my negroes and my Covington property be sold on such a credit as my Executors may deem best for the interest of my estate. 8th - It is my will and desire that the balance of my estate both real and personal be kept together for the support and education of my three children and when either of them arrive to the age of twenty one years, or marries then and in that case it is my desire that the whole of my estate be equally divided among them; tho should a division take place before they are all educated it is understood that one child is not to be advanced at the expense of another, such a part of my estate is to be allowed to those who are not educated as to make their education equal; this property I give to them and their heirs forever. 9th - My executors hereafter named have the full power to convey by deed my Florence property to John H. Woodcock on his paying them his bond for the purchase of the same and in case a failure on the part of Woodcock to confirm the said sale they are hereby authorized to sell the same on such credits as may be best for the interest of my estate. Lastly - I appoint John Mathews and Edward Booker my Executors to this my last Will and Testament as witness my hand and this 25th day February 1832. William A. Miller Witness: W. H. Ligon James P. State of Tennessee Tipton County Court June Term 1832 Then was the last Will and Testament of William A. Miller produced in open court and the executors thereof duly proven by the oaths of William H. Ligon and James P. Locke the subscribing witnesses thereto as was therefore ordered to be certified and recorded. R. W. Sanford, Clerk
State of Tennessee Tipton County Court of Pleas & quarter session December Term 1836 Then was the within last Will and Testament of William A. Miller, deceased, produced in open court which had been proven at the June term of said 1832 and John Mathews, one of the executors herein named qualified as such and took upon himself the execution thereof and having settled with commissioners appointed by this court, Thereupon Edmon Booker, Sen the other executor named herein came into Court and upon himself the execution thereof and entered into bond in the sum of one thousand dollars with Robert B. Clarkson, James N. Smith and Fredrick R. Smith his securities conditioned as the law directs and took the oath required by law. R. W. Sanford, Clerk of said Court
Will Book A - Pages 12, 13 & 14 In the name of God, Amen I, James Moore being in a bad state of health, sick in bed knowing that all men have to die do make this my last Will and Testament. First of all I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth whence it came. As for the worldly good & effects which God has been please to bestow on me, I dispose of in the following manner. Num 1 - I give unto John D. Williams three negroes, Beck, Sam & Richmond Num 2 - I give unto Joseph John Williams two negroes, Milly and Frank Num 3 - The balance of my whole estate to be equally divided between John D. Williams and Joseph John Williams, the son of John D. Williams, dec'd, and his wife. Lastly I make constitute and appoint my trusty friends John Champion and John E.
