The Confederate Monument

The Confederate Monument was erected in 1899 through the efforts of the Franklin Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The Italian marble statue is that of a Confederate infantryman at parade rest. It stands six feet six inches tall, atop a granite shaft rising from three supporting bases. Nearly ten thousand people witnessed the unveiling of the monument November 30, 1899.
