Auto Crash Fatal. BIG SPRING. Texas. July 18, (AP). —Dan W. Smith, Mentone. Loving, County, was injured fatally in a collision three miles east of here Monday. His wife and daughter. Billy Jean, 7. and Fred Bond, oil field worker from Coahoma, were injured critically. The crash occurred in a  driving rain. (source: Dallas Morning News July 19, 1938)

NORFOLK. Va.  April 5 (AP).— Aviation Cadet Charles H Boyd. 21. of Mentone Texas. attached to Fighting Squadron 6 of the aircraft carrier York town, was killed Tuesday when his fighting plane spun to a crash from a height of 2.000 feet. The plane landed in a thicket near the little Neck section of Lynnhaven. (source Dallas Morning News April 6, 1938)

Mrs. Ada Wright TYLER. Texas (Sp.) - Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Wright, 61, former postmaster at Mentone. will he held 10 a m. Saturday at the Lloyd James Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Wright died at her Tyler home Wednesday, Burial will be in Carmel Cemetery near Lindale. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ed Miller of Dallas.  (source: Dallas Morning News January 19, 1962)
