SANDERSON, Texas (UPI)- "Roy Farrier. Born Jan. 10, 1951. Died Nov. 29,1966. A metal marker bearing those words will go up within the next few days on a West Texas grave which went unmarked for four months. It might have" remained unmarked forever, but for sheriff who used his span time to write police department cross the country and a telephone operator who "really became concerned." Farrier, a transient and the son of a miner from Clifton. Ariz, was riding on a freight train last Nov. 29 He fell between two boxcars about 40 miles east of here and the train ran over him, mutilating his body beyond Identification. But in his pockets were found scraps of paper. A telephone number was written on one of them. Sheriff Bill Cooksey of Sanderson said he sent out a picture for help through newspapers because "we just felt like we needed to do everything we could to get the little fellow identified." Mrs. Ray Kinserlow, who works as an operator for General Telephone Co., in Brownfield read one of the stories. "I knew he was someone's son, and It hurt me that no one had been able to furnish any leads for identification" he said. "1 called Sheriff Cooksey and told him I wanted to help. I used the central office code books that list all the codes and prefixes of telephone numbers in the United States. Checked it in my spare time and came up with 75 similar numbers. The Terrell County Sheriff Department took it from there,  By writing the police departments in the 73 towns, in 35 states, Cooksey eliminated all but Columbus, Ohio. Police there determined there was such a working number and that the lady who lived there had a nephew of the same general description as the unidentified youth. ; She gave the address of his father, Wesley Farrier, In Clifton. Then, in Clifton, sheriff's officers were told by the father he had not seen the boy in several months and had not beard from him recently. But that said the description very definitely matched that of his son. Dallas Morning News 1967-04-02
