Roy Clark
Youth Dies in Boat

Palacios, Matagorda Co Texas Dec 12
The body of Roy Clark, a young man 21 years of age. was recovered from a skiff in East Bay this morning, the rescuers reaching the scene Just In time to give his father a chance for his life. The two men left Saturday morning for a fishing trip, using a small skiff. The stiff norther which sprang up late in the afternoon made the water too rough for them to attempt navigation, and to hold the skiff to the wind, it was anchored. During the night the wind became colder, while rain squalls were frequent. This was too much for the young man and he died from exposure two hours before the rescuing party reached him. The father was rescued more dead than alive, and tonight his chances are considered about even. The young man will be buried by the Masons today. Both father and son were recent arrivals, having settled here about two months ago. They came from Athol, Kan.
