News From Victoria County

WITH THE SICK

County School Superintendent W. K. Davies, Miss Fannie Halusek, assistant county clerk, and Albert Vanderlee, official District Court stenographer are among the Victorians ill with the flu. All are doing nicely. Mr. Vanderlee is under treatment at the Victoria Hospital.

J. D. Matthews and Louis Sorenson, both employed at A. W. Krueger's Drugstore No. 2, are ill at their homes with the flu and getting along as well as could be expected.

Henry Wischkarmper, well known farmer, is among the flu patients at the Victoria Hospital. His condition is reported as improving.

Mrs. Claude Pollick of Harlingen is convalescing at the Victoria Hospital following a surgical operation.

Mrs. W. L. Tomlinson, ill with flu-pneumonia at the DeTar Hospital was reported considerably improved today.

PERSONAL MENTION

Miss Helen Davidson has returned home following a sojourn of several months in Western Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Davis, Jr., have returned from a pleasure trip to Florida.

Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Lecour have returned from a visit to relatives in Louisiana.

Miss Nan Proctor returned home last night from a visit to friends in Ft. Worth and Dallas.

Miss Alice Cook, Mitchell School teacher, spent the holidays with relatives in Dallas and Houston, returning last night.

Miss Sue McElroy, Patti Welder High School teacher, has returned to the city after spending the holidays in Hallettsville.

Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Goldman and two sons are visiting relatives in Temple.

A. F. Fisson left Tuesday for San Antonio following a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Fisson here.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Hall have returned from a honeymoon spent in San Antonio.

TELFERNER NEWS

Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Hill and son, Ronald, attended the singing convention at Live Oak, Jackson County, Sunday.

Miss Launa Chambliss, our principal, returned Sunday afternoon after spending Christmas week with the home folks at Plainview, Texas.

Mrs. Wm. Larsen and little daughter, Williene, returned Monday afternoon from their Christmas vacation in Bastrop County.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Moore and family are enjoying a visit from Mrs. Moore's mother and sister, Mrs. Anne E. Lowe and Miss Anna Lowe of Canton, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McCoy and daughters, Nedith, Ruth and Vadith, spent Chirstmas day with relatives near Schroeder, Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. Guy Barnett and family returned Friday from a holiday visit with Mrs. Barnett's mother and sisters, Mrs. Ed Flaugh and daughters at San Antonio.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Moore and children accompanied Mrs. Moore's brother, Mrs. Earl Stuffer of McAllen, Texas to the parental home at Orange, Texas, Sunday, returning Thursday.

Mrs. James Keefe and daughters returned Friday from a six weeks visit at York, Neb. Mrs. Keefe was called there by the death of her father. All seem glad to be back again and Mr. Keefe is happy to have them back again.

Mr. and Mrs. Barrington and son, Charles were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Miller and family in Jackson County.

We are glad to learn that Mrs. Grace Staff, who has been ill with the measles is improving.

Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Berryhill, and family spent Sunday in Edna visiting their son, Oscar Berryhill, and family. Little Otho Berryhill broke his wrist cranking a car Friday but was doing nicely Sunday.

Miss Lily Berryhill, who works in Victoria, spent the holidays with the home folks.

Mrs. A. M. Hill, who has been quite sick the past two weeks, is able to be out again, her many friends are glad to know.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ravens was called to Victoria again last week law and not expected to live. Our sympathy is extended the family and our hopes are that Mrs. Ravens recovers.

Word was received Tuesday that little John Moore was sick and quarantined for diptheria. We all hope for his speedy recovery and that the other members of the family will not take it.

Miss Edna Hambelton returned Friday to McKamey to resume her teaching after spending her Christmas vacation with her parents and sister, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Hambelton and Miss Lucy. Miss Lucy leaves Wednesday to again take up her studies at C. I. A. Denton.

Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Shaw and children are enjoying a visit from Mr. Shaw's uncle, Mr. Shaw, of Trinity, Texas.

Mrs. Margaret von Roeder left for Lockhart Monday after spending the holidays with her son, He? von Roeder.

Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Blanch of North Pleasanton, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Harrison of Odem. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Groce of Sugarland and Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Groce of Waxahachie were holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Groce and family.

Miss LaNoe Miller returned to this city Wednesday to resume her duties as teacher in the Mitchell Ward School.

Miss Addie Mae Jones of Corpus Christi visited her mother and sisters here during the holidays.
