WELCOME To the Hill Country Counties of Texas
|
The heart
of Texas lies in the Hill Country.
The Texas Hill Country is a region
of Central Texas, that features rolling, somewhat rugged, hills that consist primarily of limestone but includes
the Llano Uplift and the second largest granite outcropping in the United States, Enchanted Rock, which is located
18 miles north of Fredericksburg. Austin is the capital of the U.S.
state of Texas and the county seat of Travis County. Located in Central Texas and the eastern edge of the American
Southwest, it is the fourth-largest city in Texas and the 16th-largest in the United States of America. The area
was settled in the 1830s on the banks of the Colorado River by white pioneers who named the village Waterloo. In
1839, Waterloo was chosen to become the capital of the newly independent Republic of Texas. The city was renamed
after Stephen F. Austin, known as the father of Texas |
