A Young Farmer Uses a Pistol; Shooting Himself Through the Heart
Kyle, Tex., April 19 - John EVANS, a young man about twenty-eight years old, lately from Mississippi, working on a farm near here, committed suicide to-day by shooting himself through the heart with a 38-caliber pistol. Ill-health is supposed to be the cause.

An Old Citizen Falls Down a Flight of Stairs and Breaks His Neck.
SAN MARCOS, Tex., July 21. - Wm. Pitts, Sr., aged 81 years, fell from the top of a flight of stairs on Monday night and broke his neck. The deceased was one of our earliest settlers, and built the first houses in San Marcos. He was beloved and respected and a christian gentleman.
