MRS. ISABEL VASQUEZ
BRADY, Tex., April 11 - Mrs. Isabel Vasquez of Brady; who will celebrate her 110th birthday next July 8, is said to be the oldest woman in Texas.
Mrs. Vasquez, in spite of her advanced age, is still able to work. She sweeps the house and makes the beds and aids Mrs. Jose Brondo, her grand-daughter, with whom she is living, in general housework.
She is particularly proud of her eyesight, threads a needle without difficulty and delights in sewing for her offspring in the third, fourth and fifth generations.
None of her four children are living. She has 16 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, 116 children in the fourth generation and a few in the fifth generation. Her husband died 33 years ago at the age of 83 years.
Asked to what she attributes her longevity, Mrs. Vasquez replied, "to the power of God alone." She has never made any scientific effort to prolong her life.
Mrs. Vasquez was born in Saltillo, the capital city of Coahuila, Mexico, and came to Texas eight years ago.
