Menard Placed on Map
Menard, Tex., Feb. 25 - Today has marked history for Menard as stated by most eloquent speakers. No day even in the memory of its oldest citizens has brought with it such promises of material, development and prosperity. Today Menard was placed on the map. Today Menard welcomed its first railroad train and for the first time was placed in communication with the markets of the country and entered the ranks of growing cities of Texas. For many years the citizens of Menard and Menard County have worked for rail transportation. Year after year passed into history and old settlers died and were laid away on the hillside without seeing their fondest hopes realized, the coming of the first train into this section of Texas which they had chosen as an abiding place.
