S. E. SHERWOOD Dallas Morning News – 6 Jan. 1902 Wellington , Tex. , Jan. 4. – S. E. Sherwood died here Wednesday morning. Mr. Sherwood was well known throughout Western Texas and the Indian Territory , especially among the stockmen. He lived in Clay County when that part of the county was considered the frontier of the State. From there he moved to the Indian Territory. Mr. Sherwood came to Collingsworth County about two years ago. {Submitted by Marla Zwakman} SMITH SON Dallas Morning News – 1 Dec. 1909 Wellington , Collingsworth County , Tex. , Nov. 30. – The young son of John Smith of this place died Saturday as a result of wounds received from a target rifle in his own hands. Boys of the neighborhood were playing “war” with target rifles when young Smith accidentally shot himself, death following in a few hours. {Submitted by Marla Zwakman}
