 The Panhandle Plains of Texas comprises the southern end of the Great Plains of the central United States.

In 1885 The Texas Panhandle consisted of 54 Counties bordered by the Indian Territory. 

Today the Panhandle is considered the northern 26 counties, in the upper north section of the State.
