The Funeral Of Mr. W. B. Robinson

Yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, all that was mortal of Mr. W. B. Robinson was laid to rest in East Hill cemetery. His associates and neighbors paid him their farewell respects and the community pauses for a time to mourn his departure. But time moved on, and the places that knew him will know him no more forever, but to every man that lives there lingers a memory behind to perpetuate his deeds, and if the life has been a noble one, the memory will be a happy one, and Bryce Robinson had so lived in this community as to make his memory dear to all with whom he was associated. Mr. Robinson will be especially missed among his business associates and in his church circles, having been a devout member of the Presbyterian church. As president of the Associated Charities he will be missed in the councils of this good Samaratin society which is doing such a valuable work in our community.
The funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian church by the pastor, Rev. Dr. Crozier. Dr. Crozier paid the dead man a high tribute. A large audience was present. A select choir rendered appropriate music; Rev. Anderson read a Psalm, and Rev. Willis offered a prayer. The following officers of the Presbyterian church acted as pall bearers: Messrs. J. M. Fullinwider, J. H. Silliman, W. B. Johnson, G. P. Barnes, F. C. Eason and J. H. Grant.
Following the church service the remains were taken charge of by the Masonic fraternity, who conducted the services at the grave.
Mr. Robinson's death was a great shock to this community. He had been slightly ill for several days, but his condition was not such as to cause any apprehension. He had left his duties for a few days and had gone to Fairfield to visit relatives and recuperate. On the morning of his death he was preparing to get up for breakfast, had been talking to his wife, giving no indication of feeling badly, but while sitting on the side of the bed he gave a sudden gasp and expired. His remains were met by a committee of citizens and conveyed to his home in this city. The following out-of-town relatives were here to attend the funeral: W. E. Richardson of Fairfield, J. P. Robinson and daughter of Fairfield, Tom R. Watson of Fairfield, Mrs. Galloway of Corsicana, Robt. Mayes and wife of Oakwoods, Jim Bonner of Eureka, Peire Bonner of Hillsboro, and Rev. W. L.Patterson of Eureka.

Funeral of Mr. Averyt

The funeral of Mr. James A. Averyt occurred yesterday afternoon, Monday, August 5th. Services at the family home on corner of North Sycamore and Lacy streets, Rev. L. D. Anderson of the Christian church conducting same. Representatives of the choir of Christian church sang "Asleep In Jesus." Rev. Mr. Anderson read the comforting words of Paul to the church at Thesalonica, "concerning them which are asleep," I Thess, 4:15 to close, also from Psalm 17, "I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness."
He spoke in tender, loving words of Mr. Averyt's life, of his having long been a follower of the Lord Jesus, and in comforting words to the bereaved. If all shall die, all shall live again. The heart yearnings that we all have in this life for something better and for immortality show that there is something beyond - something to gain by death. And like David, he said, we shall be satisfied only when we awake in His likeness. After a prayer that, this another lesson, given to those present, that time is short and eternity sure, that all might heed, and prayer for the comfort of those bereaved, the choir sang "Nearer, My God To Thee," and the funeral cortege slowly bore the remains to the Old Cemetery, where his body was laid by the side of his forefathers to rest until the departed spirit claims it.
