M. C. (Bud) Capps
Willie Hargrove Jr., Pittsburg Native,
Dies Joe R. Hooton Claude Eugene Pittmon E. C. Taylor
Special to The News Pittsburg. Texas. Nov. 28-— M. C. (Bud) Capps. 67. died at his farm home ten miles south of
Pittsburg Tuesday evening. Funeral services were conducted at the Willow Oak Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon
at 3:00 o'clock, with the Rev. John Hollingsworth officiating. Burial was made In Willow Oak Cemetery. Capps was
born and reared with- in a few miles of the place of his death, and spent his entire life in the community. Survivors
are his wife and three children. One son, Corbin Capps of Mineola; two daughters. Miss Nadine Capps at home, and
Miss Ola May Capps of Dallas. Also surviving is one brother, J. B. Capps of Gilmer; two half-sisters, Mrs. H. H.
Fant, Pittsburg, and Mrs. J. O. Williamson. Gilmer. [November 29, 1951

DIAMOND-LILLY-GASAWAY-CONUR
During the past week Miss G. B. Diamond, T. B. Lilly, E. B. Gasaway and O. W. Conur have died. All were among the

Mrs. Media Dee Fant
Pittsburg (Sp.) - Mrs. Media Dee Fant, 70, died in Medical and Surgical Hospital here Thursday. She
was the wife of H. H. Fant. employee of the Pittsburg Gazette and Pittsburg correspondent for The Dallas News the
last 40 years. The former Miss Media Dee Capps, Mrs. Fant was born in Upshur County. She had lived in Pittsburg
since 1928. She was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church, where services will be held it 2 p.m. Saturday, with
burial in Rose Hill Cemetery here. Besides her husband, survivors are two sons, Bruce Fant of Dallas and H. H.
Fant Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Irene London of Pittsburg and Mrs. Beatrice Jordan of
Cumby; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. [May 11, 196; Dallas

H. Fred
H. Fred, 94, Pioneer Of Pittsburg, Dies Special to the News
Pittsburg. Texas. July 25 - H. Fred died at his home here after short illness. The body was taken to Jefferson
for burial. Mr. Fred was a native of Poland. He came to America when a young man, and had been in the mercantile
business in various East Texas towns, but for about fifty years in Pittsburg. Mr. Fred was a member
of the Masonic order when he came here, and he with a few others, obtained a charter for Frank Sexton Lodge
No. 206 Pittsburg in 1856. Survived by a nephew Sam Goldberg sister-in-law, Mrs. Phillip Dollinski and a

EIwyn R. Greer
Funeral Services were held Wednesday in Pittsburg, Camp County, Methodist Church for EIwyn R. Greer, 80, retired
banker who died Tuesday at his home, 313? Purdue. A long-time resident of Pittsburg. Greer had been in the banking
business at Linden. Cass County; Jefferson. Marion County, and Pittsburg, prior to his retirement seven years ago.
Greer vas born at Hawkins, Wood County, Aug. 20. 1870. He was instrumental in the establishment, of the rural electrification
system in Camp County. He was superintendent of the Sunday School at the Pittsburg Methodist Church. He first came
to Dallas in the twenties and was for several years associated with the Dallas, officer's of the Federal Housing
Administration. He returned to Pittsburg in the late thirties and again was active in the chamber of commerce there
until ill health forced retirement. He moved to Dallas in 1944. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs.
Sam B. Merrill and Mrs. Eulon T. Strange, and a son, E. R. Greer, all of Dallas; five grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren. Burial was in the Pittsburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Lockett, Floyd Berry, Aubrey Swain. Charlie

Special to The News. PITTSBURG, Texas, Oct 31— Willie C. Hargrove Jr., Pittsburg native, died Friday in the Waco
Veterans Hospital. He was a World War I veteran, serving as a second lieutenant in France. Hargrove was manager
of the Pittsburg Cotton Oil Company for twenty-five years. He had been a director of the East Texas Chamber of
Commerce and was active in Baptist church work. Survivors are his wife; his parents; three daughters, Joyce , Evelyn
Hargrove and Marie Hargrove all of Pittsburg; two brothers Harold H. Hargrove, and Stone L. Hargrove, Harlingen;
three sisters, Mrs. Ben Williams Chicago, Mrs. E Y Nelson Houston, and Mrs. Robert Adams, San Angelo. [November 1, 1947, Dallas Morning News]
(PITTSBURG Texas, Nov. 28.-) Joe R. Hooton 62,died at his home here Tuesday. Funeral services win be held at the
First Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hooton, native of Cass County,
came here as a small child. In 1936 he was elected District Clerk and served four years. Later he served four years
as County Clerk, as postmaster from 1914 until 1922. and County Judge four years, his terms ending in 1928. He.
with V. R Couch, formed the Pittsburg Insurance Agency in 1922 and he was a member of that firm at the tune of
his death. He had served as superintendent of the Methodist Sunday School twenty years and was a member of the
Masonic order. Survivors include his wife; a son. Woodrow Hooton, Pittsburg; two daughters, Mrs. George Chambers,
Pittsburg, and Mrs. Noel Parker, Eagle Lake: a sister. Mrs. Neva Partridge. Pittsburg: two brothers, Jim Hooton,

Funeral services for Claude Eugene Pittmon, 62, retired Pittsburg furniture dealer, were held Sunday in the Pittsburg
Church on Christ. Burial was in the nearby Suffolk community. Borb in Macon. Ga, Pittmon came to Texas with his
family as a boy. He moved to Dallas from Pittsburg when his health failed recently. He was a member
of the Pittsburg Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife: two daughters. Mrs. W. F. Murray of Dallas and Mrs.
A. L. Haynes of Artesia. NM; two sons, C. D Pittmon of Gladewater and Jerry K. Pittmon of Dallas; nine grandchildren

John D. Shell, 57, Dies at Pittsburg
Special to The News PITTSBURG, Texas. Dec. 24. — John D. Shell, 57, Pittsburg civic and church leader, died at
his home here Sunday. His death was attributed to a heart attack. Shell had been in the grocery business in Pittsburg
until he retired a year ago. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Methodist Church in Pittsburg,
with the Rev. Charley Lamb, pastor, officiating. Survivors include his wife: a son, John William Shell, a student
at SMU; four sisters. Mrs. C. D. Fonville of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Mary Ella Willingham, Sapulpa, Okla.; Mrs.
George Pearson, Overton, and Mrs. Robert L. Mattison of Dallas: two brothers. Mitchell Shell of Sulphur Springs

Pittsburg Man Dies After Fall From Pole
E. C. Taylor, 40, of Pittsburg, injured in a fail from a telephone pole near Pittsburg. Camp County, died at 2
a. m. Saturday at a local hospital. Mr. Taylor died about five hours after his arrival here. Mr. Taylor's body
was forwarded Saturday to Pittsburg for funeral services and burial, he is survived by his wife and eight children

Pittsburg , Texas , Oct. 25. – W. P. Grammer, age 54, a member of the firm of Hopkins & Grammer, one of the
oldest mercantile establishments in Northeast Texas , died at his home here this morning. Deceased is survived
by his wife and five children, the oldest now being with the army in France . {Submitted
