| Polk County. Livingston, Tex., July 2.—Strayed or stolen, on the night of June 25,
1897, one brown horse, about 13 hands high, about four years old, mane has been recently reached; has defect in
left eye: Spanish brand on left shoulder and is thin in order. I will pay $5 for the delivery of the above described
horse or any information leading to its recovery. W. G. Standley, sheriff of Polk county.The Galveston Daily News, (Houston, TX) Sunday, July 04, 1897 - submitted by Janice Rice The Livingston Local: We saw a pumpkin at Colita raised by James Barnett which was the largest ever grown In Polk county, we expect. After it was fully ripe it was pulled and two or three days afterward it weighed 38 pounds. It is the round variety, and is a whopper.
