Polk County, Texas Obituaries

GATTLIN
"The News", Houston, Tex., April 1.
Sheriff Stanley of Polk county is in the city to-day, returning home from Wharton, whither he went recently on important official business. He brings news of the killing of a man named Bill Gattlin. It seems that Sheriff Rich of Wharton county had information that Gattlin was wanted at Little Rock, Ark. In attempting to make the arrest, or, rather, as soon as Gattlin was asked what his name was, he began to draw his pistol. Two shots were immediately fired and Gattlin fell to the ground dead. He leaves a young wife and a son by a former wife.
