J. R. Denton, 70, died early Monday at the home of a brother, Jim Denton. in Center Point where he had been making his home for the past several months. The body was shipped by Smith Funeral Home to Winona, Texas, for burial. , Mr. Denton, a native of Alabama, had been in ill health for an extended period. He was a retired merchant and farmer, having lived at Winona for many years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ida Denton. of Winona: two daughters, Mrs. G. D. Shuttleworth of Bullard and Mrs. R. L. Davis of Winona; three sons, A. R. and Henry Denton of Winona and Eugene Denton of Los Angeles, Calif., three brothers. Jim Denton of Center Point, Henry Denton of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Charles Demon of Waco.

Aug 21 - Mr. Sam A Goodman, Sr. an old and influential citizen living five miles west of here, died Saturday night. His remains were brought in and interred yesterday afternoon.
Aug 25 - Mr. Dan Cavanaugh, an employee of the general offices of the Cotton Belt, died yesterday at the company's hospital. His remains were shipped to St. Louis, his home, for interment

Died in a Barn
Tyler , Tx. - Aug . 8 - Robert Carroll , a 17 year old youth , was found dead Sunday morning in the barn of Mr. Taft in North Tyler. He had just finished working out a fine on the county farm and came home expecting to find his mother living in the house that Taft occupied , but she had recently to Dallas . Being sick and without money he crawled into the barn. A few days ao while on the farm , he received an affectionate letter from his brother , who lives in Houston , telling him as soon as he was released from the farm to notify him and he would furnish him means with which to come to Houston. The young fellow was buried yesterday. Justice D.T. Gaines inquested the remains , and from the testimony of a physician his verdict was that the deceased died of a congestive chill.

Tyler, Tex., March 8 Mrs. Mary Nileact, a highly esteemed lady of this city, after a lingering illness of several months, died last night and will be buried at 10 o clock to-morrow morning.

TYLER, Texas, June 19. Services for Mrs. Mittlie B. Phillips, 74, hostess for the Texas Senate who died at Austin Tuesday, were held here Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist Church. She was found dead in bed at her Austin home.
Born In Tyler, she had lived here until she was appointed hostess to the Senate in 1943. She had been grand chief of the Pythian Sisters of Texas, treasurer of the United Daughters of the Confederacy here, a member of Eastern Star, and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Col. Goval G. Phillips, on the staff of the chief of the Bureau of intelligence of the Texas Rangers at Austin; a brother. Charles W. Kennedy of Tyler, and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Reid of Tyler and Mrs. Emily Attersall of Washington. D. C.

Body of Tyler Man Returned

The remains of Charles Alexander, of 404 Cliff street, who died Sunday morning, will be shipped to Tyler, Tex., for interment. Mr. Alexander had only been ill for a few weeks and with him at the time of death was his mother, Mrs. Sallie Alexander, who will accompany the remains to Tyler.

Mrs. M. Faber
Quite a gloom was cast over the community by the death of Mrs. M. Faber, dearly beloved wife if Rabbi M. Faber, which took place at New York after a surgical operation which was expected to save and prolong her life. While in New York her husband was a constant attendant at her bedside and was assisted by devoted friends formerly residents of Tyler, Mrs. Abe Harris and Mrs. L. Hyman.
The remains were brought to Tyler for interment in the Jewish cemetery and funeral services took place on April 6 at the residence of the deceased and at the Synagogue Rabbi Greenburg of Dallas officiating. The funeral was largely attended by the Tyler community as well as by numerous out of town people who came to express their sympathy with the bereaved family.

Jos. Lipsitz
Jos Lipsitz, aged 68 years, and a pioneer resident of Tyler, and universally respected, departed this life after a lingering illness, leaving a wife, four daughters and one son to mourn his death. Jew and Gentile alike and numerous out of town people attended the funeral and the very many and rare floral offerings attested to the popularity of the deceased and the esteem in which he was held. Rabbi Faber officiated at the funeral.

Was Found Dead In Bed
Mr. R. B. Smith, Fireman at the General Offices, Expires Suddenly. Remains Carried to Troupe.This morning Mr. R. B. Smith, aged about 65 years, was found dead in bed at his rooming place, 624 Oak street. Deceased worked yesterday at his job, and seemed as well as usual. Justice A. N. Dexter viewed the remains, and rendered a verdict that deceased died from natural causes, apparently from heart trouble.
Deceased was employed as fireman at the general office building.

Tyler , Tex. , Jan. 31. – Mr. Lush Springs, an old settler here, aged 76 years, died near Tyler Friday. Yesterday his wife, aged 72 years, passed away. Both suffered from pneumonia and neither was ill over six days.

Tyler , Tex. , March 22. – The funeral of Mrs. Virginia Epperson, who died at her home, five miles east of here, occurred yesterday morning, burial being at Bascom. She was 95 years of age, and came to Smith County in 1846 and settled on the farm on which she died. She was a member of the Methodist Church for nearly fifty years. She is survived by four children.
