O'Dell C. Connell Temple Daily Telegram, Temple, Texas, May 11, 2007 ASTORIA, Ill. - O'Dell C. Connell, 82, of Ipava, Ill., and formerly Heidenheimer died Thursday, May 10, at an Astoria, Ill., nursing home.  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lewistown Church of the Nazarene in Lewistown, Ill., with the Rev. Randy Munson officiating.  Burial with full military honors provided by the Ipava American Legion Post No. 17 will be in Ipava Cemetery in Ipava.  Mr. Connell was born in Heidenheimer to Olan and Abbie Green Connell and he retired from the U.S. Army in 1970. He then worked as manager at South Texas Tire Test Fleet in Devine, Texas, was elected as constable in Devine and then worked as Chief of Police 1975-1976 in Astoria.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. LUTHER DUKE -- Belton, Texas, Sept. 30 -- Luther Duke died at the home of his parents near this city Monday night. Deceased was 32 years of age and is survived by a mother and father and a brother and 2 sisters. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with interment in the North Belton Cemetery. Rev. N. O. Ray conducted the services. Rev. L.G. GRIMES -- Temple, Tex. Sept. 30 -- Information was received here today of the death of Rev. L. G. Grimes, for over fifty years a Methodist minister and well known in all parts of Texas, where he formerly resided. Deceased was an ex-Confederate, having served in the war under command of General Nathan B. Forrest. During the early eighties Rev. Mr. Grimes was immigration agent for the Santa Fe Railway and brought thousands of settlers to this State. Besides a widow he is survived by nine children, one of the latter being J. Frank Grimes of the ????? Banner-Press. Rev. Mr. Grimes was aged 68 and succumbed to an illness extending over a period of two years. Interment occurred today at ?????   Back to the Main Index Page
