Meridian, Tex., July 15.--Mrs. Mary A. Carruth, wife of S. M. Carruth, Esq., of this city, died Sunday morning at 6 o'clock, aged 63 years.

Description: Obituary Dr. W. M. Barry

Date: February 12 1889

Abilene, Tex., Feb. 11.-- Dr. W. M. Barry, whose death occurred at 5 o'clock yesterday evening, was one among the first physicians to locate in Abilene, and up to a short time ago, when the dreaded disease consumption laid hands upon him, he enjoyed a fine practice, being very popular as a physician and a citizen. He has held several offices of public trust in the county and city, and at the time of his death was a member of the city council and a mason in full fellowship and standing in the Abilene lodge. His remains were taken charge of by the masons and the fire department and at 10 o'clock a procession was formed by them and a large concourse of friends was conveyed from his home to the Texas and Pacific depot and placed upon the morning train for interment at his old home in Bosque county.

Meridian, Tex., Jan. 27.--Mrs. Ora Blanton, aged about 26 years, wife of Charles C. Blanton, Esq., died at Atlanta, Ga., yesterday morning. The news of her death was a shock to her numerous friends here. A genuine sorrow is expressed at her death, and her memory will be cherished by all who value excellence in character.

Goldthwaite , Texas , Oct. 25. – Charles Gardner, age 22, died at Santa Fe Hospital at Temple Wednesday night and was buried here yesterday afternoon. He was the son of W. J. Gardner of Kopperl , Texas . On March 6 of this year he was married at Killeen to Miss Bird Pace, who survives him. [Transcribed and submitted by Marla Zwakman]

Clifton , Texas , Oct., 25. – Dr. Durton R. Carpenter, age 30 years, son of Dr. J. C. Carpenter, died here this morning, after a brief attack of influenza, followed by pneumonia. Last week he was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the Medical Corps and was preparing to leave when stricken ill. His brother, Dr. J. Owen Carpenter, is a First Lieutenant in the Medical Corps, attached to the Thirty-Sixth Division in France . Another brother, Ensign Homer C. Carpenter, attached to the navy, reached here today.
