WAXAHACHIE – Graveside services for Dail Blasingame, 70, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 in Waxahachie City Cemetery.
Born Jan. 5, 1940 in Dallas, the daughter of Frank and Opil Smith, she passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2010.
She is survived by her daughters Norma D. Feagin of Waxahachie and Karen L. Roberts; sisters Shirley Bell and Darlene Smith; brothers Fred Bailey, Frank Smith and Jerry Smith; and five grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

WAXAHACHIE, TEXAS, Feb. 6 - Saturday night at 7:30 Mrs. W.J. Bule died. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. E.H. Kellar conducting the funeral ceremonies. The pallbearers were: Judge O.F. Dunlap, Osco Goodwin, J.A. C. Kemble, Leo Gammon and Hon. T.B. Williams.
Deceased was the wife
of W.J. Bule, editor of the Waxahachie Enterprise.

Nora Brown
League City – Mrs. Nora Alabama “Bama” Brown passed from this life Tuesday afternoon at League City.
Born April 2, 1907 in Ellis County, Texas, Mrs. Brown had been a resident of League City since 1984, previously of Dallas. She was a homemaker, a member of Bay Area Baptist Church and an avid domino player.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husbands, A.J. Brandon and Joe B. Brown; son, Weldon “Butch” Brandon; grandson, J. Scott Burnam; one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay and Lonnie Wisdom of League City; grandchildren, Wesley Burnam, Alan Burnam, Julie Brandon, Scott Brandon, Amy Wisdom; great-grand-children, Erik Burnam, Brittany Burnam and Dylan
Burnam.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Grace Memorial Park, Pastor Alan R. Splawn officiating.
Friends visited the family Wednesday evening at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, 925-3501.

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Ruth Mardell Coker, 80, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 at Waxahachie Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Shefield officiating.
Born Aug. 29, 1930 in Mercedes, Texas, the daughter of James William and Mary Moore, she passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010.
She married Mirian Gene Coker on April 18, 1952 in Fort Worth and was employed by the Maypearl Independent School District for 15 years.
She is survived by daughter Marilyn Brown and husband Donnie of Waxahachie; son Bill Coker and wife Charlotte of Arlington; grandchildren Kyle Coker, Hilary Rinella and Chris Brown; sisters Lola Pinson and Mary Catalina;
and several nieces and nephews.
Interment followed in the Maypearl Cemetery under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

AVALON – Celebration of life services for John Miller Copeland were held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Williams Funeral Directors.
Born May 29, 1933 in Avalon, the son of Clinton M. Copeland and Berniece Copeland, he passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010.
The family lived in Tulsa, Okla. where he attended elementary and graduated high school from Oklahoma Military Academy in 1951.
Preceded in death by his parents; he is survived by his wife Beverly Merriman Copeland of Rowlett; sons Curt Copeland and his wife Barbara of Tyler and Craig Faulkner and wife Stephanie of Dallas; daughters Jill Copeland Womack and husband Joe of Coppell, Allison Copeland of Irving and Keli Faulkner Lynn and husband Kevin
of Plano; sister
Marion Michalove of Forest City, N.C.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

RED OAK – Horace (Hoss) Odell Davis, 68 of Red Oak, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at his residence in Red Oak.
A 40 year resident of Red Oak, he enjoyed deep sea fishing and restoring cars. He was a member of The Cruisers Antique Car Club in Ellis County. He was a crane operator for 45 years, working last for ATS of Fort Worth.
He is survived by wife of 31 years Wanda Gale Davis of Red Oak; four sons; one daughter; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Cook Children’s Medical Burn Center at www.cookchildrens.org.
A memorial is currently being planned by the Cruisers Car Club and further information will be announced.

FERRIS - Charles Neal Fulton, 76 of Ferris, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at his home in Ferris. Charles was born Oct. 8, 1934 to Samuel Wilson and Pearl Flippen Fulton in Ferris. Charles was a General Paint Contractor and owned and operated Fulton and
Fulton Paint Contractors and C&B Painting with his brother Billy Tom Fulton for nearly 45 years.
They also owned and operated rental properties in Ferris. Charles was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Ferris.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister Peggy Jo Fulton and grandson Tyler J. Fulton. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Zonelle ( Nell) Fulton of Ferris; two children Doris Jean Fulton-Gilbert of Dallas and Charles Wayne (Charlie Brown) Fulton of Mesquite; three grandchildren Johnathon
C. Fulton
of Dallas, Shelby T. Fulton of Ferris and Macey L. Potyraj of Plano; three brothers Robert Fulton and his wife Carolyn of Lancaster, Raymond Fulton and his wife Patsy of Corsicana and Billy Tom Fulton

The family received friends and relatives from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Ferris. Services were scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Ferris with Rev. Gene Ratcliff, Rev. Mary Gean Cope and Rev. Cathy Mordicai officiating. Interment will follow at Ferris Memorial Park North.

Mrs. Mattie House Claimed at Slaton
SLATON, July 14, (Special)—Mrs. Mattie House, 85, of Sterling City, died here late last night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ben Mansker.
A resident of Sterling county for 75 years, Mrs. House had been visiting in her daughter’s home for three months. She became ill Sunday afternoon. Mrs. House was born in Ellis county, Texas. Her husband, the late M. Z. House was a pioneer Sterling county rancher.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. W. T. Brown, Albany, Mrs. J. H. Reeves, Amarillo, and Mrs. Mansker; four sons, W. W. and R. R. House, Tucumcari, R. B. of Breckenridge, and J. A. of Odessa; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. All of her children were here at
the time of her death.
Funeral services will be conducted from the First Methodist church in Sterling City Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Ed Lovelace, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Sterling City under the direction of Lowe’s Funeral home.

FERRIS - Clarence H. “Bob” Moffitt, 98, passed away in Redding, California March 17, 2011.
He was born in Ferris on Nov. 12, 1912 to Henry and Ina Rodgers Moffitt.
He was married to Cubye Stilwell for 74 years and she preceded him in death last year.
He is survived by three children Don Moffitt Kaufman, Lana Moffitt Sacramento, Calif. and Joe Moffitt Janesville, Calif.; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of WWII and was buried at the Northern California Veteran’s Cemetery at Igo, Calif.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister Jean Peaden; he is survived by his wife Martha Short; daughter Tammy Short Sasser and her husband Jimmy Sasser of Wilson, N.C.; sister Carolyn Barnes of N.C.; brother Wayne Short of N.C.; stepdaughter Tammy L. Cox and her husband Wesley Cox;
stepson Todd Farris; grandson Hunter Farris; and Mindy and Miranda Goodner.

FERRIS - Dewey Silvers, 79, of Ferris, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 at Charlton Methodist Hospital, in Dallas.
Dewey was born in Ore City, Texas on Oct. 7, 1931, the son of the late Will and Evie Hudspeth Silvers.
He was a Korean War Veteran and honorably discharged in May of 1953. He worked as a welder. He was married to Shirley Cochran on Dec. 8, 1961 in Ferris. He was loved by everyone who knew him and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him and knew him.
Dewey is survived by his wife Shirley Cochran Silvers; two daughters Donna and son-in-law Bobby Sadler of Red Oak and Sharla and son-in-law Ed Green of Bristol; two sons Ronald and daughter-in-law Marla Rackley of Ferris and Dewey (Buddy)
and daughter-in-law Tammy
Silvers of Balch Springs. Dewey is also survived
by 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by daughter Linda Finch and two brothers Allen Silvers and Walter Silvers.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 at Bristol Baptist Church, with Reverend Dave Futral officiating. Interment followed at Ferris Memorial Park North. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Green Funeral Home.

FERRIS - Graveside services for Gerald Baker Talkington, 74, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Ferris Memorial Park North Cemetery in Ferris.
Born Feb. 11, 1937 in Dallas, the son of Curtis Lavell and Gladys Maurine Baker Talkington, he passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 in a Fort Worth hospital.
He married Patricia Dishman on May 1, 1976 in Ferris. He was a veteran of the Texas National Guard 49th Armory Division.
He owned and operated the City Pride Car Wash for 25 years. He was a Baptist.
He was a past mayor of Ferris, was on city council in Ferris, and was a past president of the Ferris Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of the Waxahachie Historical Board, the Ellis County Historical Board, the Greater Dallas South Association, and the Palo Pinto Historic Foundation.
He was a charter member of the North Texas Region Classic Car Club, and a charter member of the Packard’s North Texas Car Club.
He was a founding member of the Brazos Foundation. He was a lover of old cars and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Pat Talkington of Mineral Wells; two nieces and numerous cousins.

Vivian was born on March 6, 1915 in Itasca. She was married on Dec 23, 1935 to Roland Tyler.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ferris. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Wolsey P, Margaret S. Washer Bailey and eight siblings.
She survived by one daughter Carol Trees of Red Oak; two sons Roland W. Tyler and wife Alice of Forney and Gerald B. Tyler and wife Brenda of Ferris; one brother John Bailey of Hillsboro; grandson Tommy Tyler & wife Sheila of Forney; two great-grandchildren Casey

FERRIS - Emmit Richard Wickliffe, 74 of Ferris, passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010 in Dallas.
Emmit was born in Ferris, on March 30, 1936 to Jessie Marion Viola Mae Parks Wickliffe.
He was maintenance supervisor for Southern Methodist University Dallas. Emmit was married to Annetta Vessels Wickliffe on May 1, 1964.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Annetta Wickliffe of Ferris; daughters, Brenda and son-in-law Ray Smith of Kaufman and Nita and son-in-law Samuel Garcia of Ferris; son, Eric Wickliffe of Ferris; sister, Maureen
Mathews of Ennis; brothers, Amy O’D-ell Wickliffe of Rockwall and Marion Wickliffe of Balch Springs.
He is also survived by six grandchildren: Samuel Garcia, Jr., Patrick Garcia, Briana Garcia all of Ferris, Curtis Smith and wife Denise of Dallas, Ray Smith, Jr. and April Hughes of Kaufman; three great-grandchildren, Dallas
Hughes, Shane Hughes and Colton Hughes all of Kaufman.
Preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Curtis Theodore Wickliffe and Johnny Wickliffe; and sisters Pauletta Conway and Peggy Griffith.

Tex., July 30. – Walter
Turner, aged 79 years, a
prominent farmer of Boz and a
pioneer settler in this county,
died very suddenly yesterday
afternoon. He was feeling
unusually well at dinner and ate
heartily, but shortly afterward
received a stroke of apoplexy
and died in a few moments.--

(Lama County, AL) - Jan. 27, 1888
Galveston,
Tex. Jan 18 - A special from Ennis,
Texas, to the News says: Seven
persons were drowned today in Sand
Lake, about ten miles east of
Ennis. Two young women,
daughters of Wm. Williams a farmer,
and a young man named Babbitt were
skating on the lake, when the ice
gave away and they sunk in found and
a half feet of water.

Ennis, Texas, Nov. 12 - Mrs.
F.H. Maxwell, 70 years old, died at
her home at Garrett Tuesday.
She is survived by her husband and
five sons, D.R. and E.D. Maxwell of
Garrett, F.E. of Fort Worth, C.L. of
Pittsburg and G.A. of Denison.
The Rev. Ben West of Waxahachie
conducted the funeral service here
at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon.
