C.C. Powell
HAMILTON, Dec 2 Prof C C. Powell 39, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. John H. Brown, in the Binrider community about five miles south of Hamilton. Monday afternoon. He was ill about two hours. Powell came to Texas from Alabama in 1869, and settled in Hamilton county in 1879. He taught school in the county for forty years. Powell served as county surveyor for several years. he is survived by his widow and three daughters Mrs. Brown, with whom he and Mrs. Powell resided, Mrs. Bettie Neavitt of Gavesville; and Mrs. Kate Allen of Henrietta. He was the father of three sons, all of whom died a number of years ago. the body was buried in the Blue Ridge Cemetery Tuesday afternoon with religious and Masonic ceremonies.
