Confederate Vet is 113 Today; Plans on Living to 120
Franklin, Tex.(UP)—Col. Walter Williams, a drummer boy in the Confederate Army, celebrated his 113th birthday today and announced he expects to live to be 120.
“I figure I stand a chance of making it,” he said.  “I feel real good now.”
Williams, the oldest surviving veteran of the Civil War, has a special reason for wanting to live to be 120.  He wants to outlive his father who died at the age of 119.
Some 150 to 200 persons joined him Sunday in a birthday eve barbecue at his home.  He said he expects to outlive some of them.
