Jailer's Wife Blocks Escape of 3 Prisoners
ROCKWALL, Tex., June 3- — (AP)—With a blazing pistol, Mrs. Gene Eagle today blocked the escape of three prisoners who had attacked her jailer-husband. Hearing his calls for help, she snatched a six-shooter from her kitchen table and fired across the jail stairs to drive back Jack Fletcher, Luke Scoma and Joe Palmer. They hurriedly released Eagle, who with another gun handed him by his his wife, subdued the prisoners.

In Texas, four tornadoes, bred by sultry spring weather, tore through that state's northeastern counties, Wednesday, destroying several homes and stores, and disrupting power and communications services. Texas towns reporting the visit of the twister included Garland, Rockwell, Glower, Maybank and Odon. Two persons were killed and another critically injured in a highway crash near Rockwall, Texas, Wednesday night, during a tornadic storm, the fourth to [sweep northeast Texas communities in 24 hours. Other Texas Officers Convicted of Violating Negro's Rights.

DALLAS, Tex., Nov. 9. (IF)—Judge T. Whitfield Davidson today sentenced Sheriff ,W. J. Price of Rockwall County and Jack Pullen. Former sheriff, to 1-year prison terms, and fined them $1,000 each on convictions of violating the civil rights of R. D. Andrew, a Negro. Luther Hunter, Rockwall jailer and William Frazier Kaufman County Constable convicted of the same charge. same charge, were sentenced to six months in jail. The indictment was based on Andrews assertion that he was held in jail without charge and forced to work on a Rockwall County landowner's farm
