A. T. Kimball, an old honored citizen of the county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. E. Maley, near Mineral City , last Friday night as the result of an overdose of medicine taken for kidney trouble. The deceased was in the eighty-third year of his age, coming to this section from Louisiana in 1861. Since that time he has lived continually in this and Refugio counties, raising a large family. One son Rev. S. B. Kimball of Mineral City and several daughters survive him. Up to the time of his misfortune he had been in good health and was unusually active for his age, going on horseback frequently in visiting among his children.

Charles Lockhart, one of the oldest citizens of the county, died at Pottus Wednesday night. The deceased came to Texas in early days and spent most of his life in this part of the state. He was a great friend of Sam Houston and stood by him in his efforts to keep Texas in the union. When the war broke out he remained loyal to the federal authority and served in the First Texas Federal volunteers. He was known as a man of staunch integrity and was well liked by all his neighbors. He leaves a numerous progeny among whom are Mrs. F. Y. O’Neal and David Lockhart of Pettus, Bird Lockhart, a deputy sheriff of Golind county, Jas. Lockhart, postmaster at Normanna and Mrs. Chas. Harwood, residing near this place.

Mr. McMaster, an aged resident of Papalote, died Monday last after a short illness. The remains were interred in the cemetery near here Tuesday, followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends. The sympathy of the community is extended the bereaved family.

The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Tims, aged three years, died Tuesday evening at 8:00 o’clock after a short illness. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon from the family residence.
