Austin, Tex., April 5 - The Governor today refused to commute to life imprisonment the death sentence of the Negro
John Roan, who was convicted of rape in Frio county and sentenced to hang, March 28, but was respited until Tuesday,
April 8 in order to permit the examination of the application for commutation. Roan will pay the penalty of death
next Thursday at Marlin.
