The Body Found
"The body of William
Pearce who was drowned in Price River last May, found."
A correspondent writing to The Tribune under date of July
18th, from Price, Emery county, Utah, state that while a party of men from the
construction train on the D. & G. were fishing in Price river near Castle
Gate on Thursday last, they discovered the body of a man lodged under a rock in
the river. The body was taken out and found to be badly decomposed. A number of
the men at once recognized it as that of William Pearce, a young man who was
drowned on May 23d last while working on a construction train near Castle Gate.
He was unloading rock at the time with a derrick, and was accidentally thrown
into Price river by a a blow from the derrick. E. W. McIntire, justice of the
peace of Price precinct, was at once notified of th finding of the body, and
summoning a jury, composed of Fred E. Grames, Jacob Black and John Philips,
proceeded to Castle Gate, where the bony had been removed in a box and
held an inquest, returning a verdict in accordance with the above
facts.
