At Nephi October 16th, 1879, AMANDA MORGAN (Miller). Deceased was born August 10th. 1795, at Bolton Essex County, Vermont. Married to Josiah Miller in 1815, and embraced the gospel in the town of Holland in 1834; traveled in the Kirtland camp; came to Winter Quarters In 1846; emigrated with the first company to this country; moved to Nephi in 1850, and was one of the first settlers here. She was the mother of eight children. She leaves a son and two daughters, 56 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren. The funeral services took place at the residence of her son-in-laws Bishop C. Sperry, on Saturday, October 18th. After sin ging and prayer, etc, many of her old friends spoke of her faithfulness and long standing in the church. She has gone to meet with her husband and Joseph and Hyrum and Brigham, and those she loved. A good many followed her to her last renting place. [Com].

McLaughlin
SILVER CITY: James McLaughlin of Silver City, aged 79 years, died last night from pneumonia. Mr. McLaughlin has been a resident of Silver City for a great many years. During the last six years he has been serving as postmaster. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon.

Pendleton
EUREKA, Dec. 4. – Mrs. Lucinda Pendleton, wife of Lee Pendleton, died at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, after a ten days’ illness of typhoid fever. Mrs. Pendleton was born at Torrey, Utah, twenty-five years ago and had been a resident of Eureka for several years past, where she had many friends, who sincerely mourn her demise. She leaves a widower and two little girls. The remains were shipped to Payson this morning for burial.

Blackburn
Jehu Blackburn died at Nephi, Juab County, at one o’clock a.m., on Wednesday, 19th inst., of lung fever, after an illness of nine days.
Was born December 25, 1824, in Bedford County, Pennsylvania; was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Blackburn; moved to the State of Ohio in 1835, and to the State of Illinois in 1841; was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1842, by Bishop David Evans, shared the expulsion of the saints at Nauvoo in 1846; arrived in Salt Lake Valley in 1848; helped to build the Old Fort in Salt Lake Valley in 1849; pioneered and helped to build the fort in Provo, and in 1852 was called by President G. A. Smith to strengthen the southern settlements; helped to build up Fillmore City, and in 1856 built a mill in Pine Valley, and in 1859 helped to found and build up Minersville, Beaver Bounty, and in the Spring of 1876, pioneered and founded the settlement in Fremont or Rabbit Valley, Piute County, and at the time of his death was building a mill at that place.
He was the husband of four wives and the father of 21 children, 15 boys and six girls and nine grandchildren. He leaves a large family and a large number of friends to mourn his loss. Died in full faith of a glorious resurrection. Respectfully, etc.

Harris
At Central, Graham County, Arizona, September 7th, 1886, of old age, Lovina, wife of John Harris. Deceased with her husband were among the first settlers of Utah, and lived principally in Juab and Iron counties. She was 79 years of age.

Sargent
PROVO, May 16. – Mrs. Joseph P. Welch was called to Panguitch Saturday to attend the funeral of her grandmother, Mrs. W. P. Sargent, who died last Friday. Mrs. Sargent was born at Lehi and was the daughter of William Snow, a pioneer Utah citizen. Mrs. Sargent moved to St. George shortly after her marriage. For many years she taught school in southern Utah. She was the sister of Mrs. H. O. Gardner of Provo and of Professor William J. Snow of the B. Y. U.

Clitheroe
MOUNT PLEASANT, July 20. – Funeral services were held Monday at the Lincoln hall for Mrs. Harry Clitheroe, who died Saturday at a Salt Lake hospital, following an operation. The Rev. T. M. Keusseff was in charge of the services. The family recently moved to Mount Pleasant from Panguitch, Mrs. Clitheroe having been engaged as manual training teacher for the Wasatch academy. Mrs. Clitheroe is survived by her husband and three children – Thomas, Lena and Erick – all of this city.

Simons
EUREKA: The body of Charles Simons, who was killed Thursday in Robinson, will be shipped to Salt Lake tomorrow morning, where funeral services will be held at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Truitt. Mr. Simons was 40 years of age. A wife and two children survive him.

Matthews
EUREKA: Mrs. Fred Matthews, a prominent woman of Eureka, died yesterday of typhoid fever. Mrs. Matthews was one of the most popular women of the city. She was a member of the local hive of Ladies of Maccabees and also Columbia lodge No. 2, Daughters of Rebekah. In the latter society she held the office of vice-president in the State organization.

Smith
EUREKA: Nelson H. Smith of Eureka, aged 58 years, died at his home in the eastern part of the camp Thursday night. The deceased was a native of Missouri, and leaves a wife and three grown children.

Sarah Elizabeth Wright McCune
NEPHI--Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Wright McCune, 81, died Monday in a Provo hospital following an extended illness caused by old age.
Mrs. McCune was born in Salt Lake on January 19, 1851. a daughter of Thomas and Sarah Mae Wright. She moved to Nephi with her parents in 1853 and had spent the remainder of her life here. She was married to George McCune in 1867 in the old Endowment house in Salt Lake, Mr. McCune died in 1871.
She is survived by one son. George McCune, Nephi; one brother, Joseph F. Wright; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Nephi Friday at 1:30. The place has not been decided. Interment will be in the Nephi City cemetery.
