Mary Elizabeth Rogers Empey
VIEW--Services were held Thursday in the L. D. S. church for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rogers Empey, wife of Arthur Empey, Sr.
She was born at St. George, Utah, Aug. 3, 1869, daughter of David and Mary Ann Rogers, pioneers of Dixie. She married Arthur Empey in St. George on Jan. 1, 1891. and in 1904 they moved to Minidoka, Idaho.
She is survived by her husband and the following children: Arthur Empey, Jr., Thora Empey Adams, View, and Klea Empey Draney, Idaho Falls. Also seven grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Diantha Woodbury, View, and Mrs. Julia Hardy, St. George.

Oliver Hodgson
Oliver Hodgson, 81, who for decades took a leading part in contracting, Church and political activities of the state and city, was killed instantly Thursday night at 9 o'clock when struck by a streetcar. According to the account of W. E. Wilson, 726 Stratford avenue, who was motorman of the car, Mr. Hodgson walked in front of the car at Ninth South and Third East.
A passing motorist rushed Mr. Hodgson to the emergency hospital, where it was found his skull had been fractured. Wilson was said by Patrolman Clarence T. Smith, who investigated the accident, to be blameless for the accident.
For many years, Mr. Hodgson was active in politics. In 1911, he was elected city councilman on a fusion ticket and served four years. In 1928 at the age of 78, he was elected to the state legislature on the Democratic ticket. The oldest member in the legislature, he served one term.
For eight years, he served as bishop of the Third ward. At the time of his death, he was a member of the high council of Liberty stake.
Mr. Hodgson was born in York-shire, England, March 8, 1850, son of Henry William Sutliff Hodgson and Mary Shaw Hodgson. At the age of 16, he came to Salt Lake, arriving Sept. 28, 1868. Shortly after his arrival, he joined the pioneer building firm of Folsom and Romney as a carpenter's apprentice.
Later he became a contractor and handled the building of several edifices for the Church. He also supervised construction of the church office building at 47 east South Temple street.
Jan. 27, 1871, he married Ann Pickard Hollingsworth, and on April 12, 1875, Mary Ettie Simmons, both of whom are dead.
Surviving Mr. Hodgson are five sons, Edgar D. Hodgson of Salt Lake; Leslie S. Hodgson of Ogden; Russell B. Hodgson of Long Beach, Cal.; Paul S. Hodgson of Logan, and Clifford S. Hodgson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. F. J. Fullmer of Salt Lake, and Mrs. I. B. Ball of Berkeley, Cal.

Martha Ann Lunn Holmes
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ann Lunn Holmes. 78, who died in a local hospital Thursday, will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m., in the Twenty-seventh ward chapel. Burial will take place in the City cemetery. Friends may call at the Deseret mortuary Saturday and Sunday morning, and at the chapel Sunday between 2:15 p.m., and time of the services. Mrs. Holmes was a Daughter of the Pioneers in Salt Lake, and a member of the Utah Association for the Blind. Besides a son by a former marriage, E. H. Allen of Salt Lake, Mrs. Holmes is survived by a sister and three brothers, Mrs. Sarah Loveridge and Walter Lunn, Salt Lake; John Lunn, Oakland. Cal.; Fred Lunn, Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. She is also survived by four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

James Bernard Keysor
Funeral services for Dr. James Bernard Keysor, 73, pioneer Salt Lake dentist, who died in a local hospital Tuesday, will be conducted Sunday at 1 p. m. at the Eighth L. D. S. ward chapel. Burial will be made in the family plot at the City cemetery.
Friends may call at the Intermountain mortuary Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, and at the chapel for 30 minutes prior to the funeral services.

Andrew J. Peterson
MOUNT PLEASANT, Nov. 15. – The body of Andrew J. Peterson, formerly of this city, who died last week at the mental hospital at Provo, was taken to Duchesne for burial. His relatives from Mt. Pleasant and Fairview attended the funeral.

Mr. Peterson was the son of Mrs. Sophia Peterson Larsen of this city. He was born here May 15, 1871, was married to Mrs. Effie Gray of Salt Lake City in 1909, moving to the Uinta reservation the same year. They had resided there since. Coming here about two weeks ago to visit his aged mother, who is seriously ill, Mr. Peterson was suddenly taken ill and was removed to Provo, where he died a few days later.

Besides his widow and mother, he is survived by two foster children, Mrs. Gracia Olsen and George Gray, and four children, Beth, Pearl, Emma and Dora, all of Duchesne; four sisters, Mrs. Matilda Mills and Mrs. Anna Omansen of this city, Mrs. Malinda Garlic of Fairview and Mrs. Laurette Musig of Ephraim, and one brother, Frederick Larsen of Mount Pleasant.

Mary Rozean Rudy
Funeral services for Mary Rozean Rudy, 77, who died Thursday of ailments incident to age at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Della Rudy, 449 Chicago street, will be held Sunday at 1 p. m. in the Thirty-fourth L. D. S. ward. S. Burton Newman, bishop, will preside.
Mrs. Rudy was born in Salt Lake. August 1, 1854, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi W. Reed. She was the widow of Orson W. Rudy. She was a prominent worker in the L. D. S. church, for many years serving as secretary and treasurer in the Relief society.
Surviving are two sons, Orson A. and Howard R. Rudy, of Salt Lake; five daughters, Mrs. Eva Winter, Mrs. Kate Newman, Mrs. Maud Parry and Mrs. Edwin W. Burton of Salt Lake and Mrs. E. A. Parker of San Francisco; nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Burial will take place in the City cemetery. Friends may call at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kate Newman, 37 North Eighth West street, from 11 a. m. to 12:30 p. m. Sunday.

Sarah Jane Sanderson
FAIRVIEW--Mrs. Sarah Jane Sanderson, 87, died at her home here, Feb. 13. She was born June 7, 1844, in Illinois, and was among the pioneers of Fairview. Her husband died in November, 1896. She was the mother of 15 children, five of whom survive her: Henry W. Sanderson, Jr., Sidney Sanderson, Mrs. J. W. Christenson, and Mrs. Jordan H. Brady of Fairview; Mrs. Hyrum Fescher of Salt Lake.
Funeral was held Tuesday.

Thomas H. Woodbury
Thomas H. Woodbury and his family will gather at his home, 831 Garfield avenue, Friday afternoon, in celebration of his eightieth birthday.
Mr. Woodbury was born June 3, 1853, in Salt Lake, and has spent his life here. In the early days, Mr. Woodbury was associated with his father in the nursery business, and later assisted in the sinking of hundreds of wells throughout the valley. In recent years he had been engaged in farming.
He is the father of thirteen children, nine of whom now are living: Mrs. Eli B. Rodgers, Bountiful; Mrs. Thomas W. Jensen, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Thomas W. Ross, Mrs. Joseph Dixon, Mrs. J. Richard Osborne, Mrs. R. H. Doelle and Thomas, Charles and Elias Woodbury, all of Salt Lake.
Friends of the family have been invited to attend the celebration Friday between 4 and 7 p. m. A family reception will follow.
