OBITUARIES
R. Maurice "Meece" Brown
Robert Maurice ''Meece'' Brown, 78, passed away at his home in Grantsville, Utah December 22, 1990.
Meece was born
June 5, 1912 in Grantsville to Jasper D. and Ada Matthews Brown. He
married Jane Rydalch July 25, 1941 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was
later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a farmer
and rancher all his life and cherished his memories of Brown's Ranch in
Skull Valley. He was a charter member and past president of the
Grantsville Lion's Club, member and past vice chairman of the Salt Lake
District Taylor Grazing (BLM) Advisory Board, National Pony Express
Re-enactment rider for 10 years, president, South Willow Irrigation
Co., and FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer. He was a member of the LDS
Church, and held the office of High Priest. He served as Young Men's
president, in the Sunday School superintendency, and Elder's Quorum
presidency.
Maurice is
survived by his wife, Jane, Grantsville; and his children, George
Corwin ''Cory'' Brown, Richard Maurice ''Tom'' and Suzanne Brown,
Maureen and Roger Peterson, all of Grantsville; Janice Marriott, Salt
Lake City; Jolynne and John Burr, Grantsville; 13 grandchildren, Cary,
Colby, and Janan Burr; J. D. And Meagan Marriott; Andy, Ashley, Alex
and Aaron Peterson; Melodi, Anthony, Tomothy, and Thomas Brown; one
great-granddaughter, Morgan Burr. Also survived by a sister, Rachel
Smith, Grantsville; and two brothers, Jack M. Brown, Weiser, Idaho; and
J. Quentin Brown, Corvallis, Montana. Preceded in death by a sister,
Beth Peterson, and a brother, J. Keith Brown.
Funeral
services will be held Thursday, December 27, at 1 p.m. in the
Grantsville 1st Ward Chapel, 415 West Apple and West Street. A viewing
will be held at the Tate Mortuary in Tooele Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m.
and at the church one hour prior to services.

Corinne Dunyon Dies Suddenly
Corinne Cosby Dunyon well known resident of Tooele for over three years
died suddenly at her home on South Main Street on the morning of June
23. Mrs. Dunyon had been working in the yard of her home and was
stricken with a heart attack.
She was born in Dixon, Webster County, Kentucky on Sept. 6, 1899, the
daughter of Forrest G. and Elizabeth Baker Cosby. Until recently she
had been employed by the Tooele Ordnance Depot and was well liked among
her fellow employees for her wonderful personality.
She is survived by her husband, Albert F. Dunyon; her daughter, Joann
Brooks Dunyon, both of Tooele; her mother, Mrs. Forrest G. Cosby of
Palatine, Illinois and Mrs. Ralph B. MacHarg.
The body will leave Tooele at 11 a.m. Wednesday for Salt Lake City
where it will intered at the Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family requests
that no flowers be sent.

Wallace L. Higley
Wallace Lorenzo Higley, age 65, died August 12, 1990 in a Salt Lake hospital.
Born February
1, 1925 in Grantsville, to Stephen Lemuel and Maggie May Cartwright
Higley. Married Lorna Peterson, June 12, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS
Temple. Served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the
Phillipines. Active member LDS Church. Served as member of bishopric,
home teacher, active in all priesthood quorum assignments, temple
worker in Jordan River Temple. Enjoyed square dancing. He was a farmer
and a mechanic with the U.S. governement.
Survivors:
wife, Grantsville; children, David C., Sandy; Mrs. Jeff (Carol) Lawson,
San Jose, California; Mark Lee, Logan; Dale Edwards, Wendover; Lynn
Charles, Grantsville; Annette Villa, Wendover; 24 grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, Grover, Milo, both of Grantsville; Carrie Jarvis,
West Valley; Rena St. Clair, Salt Lake City; Lorna Miller, Midvale;
Dorothy Egelund, Tooele; Ruth Crandall, Salt Lake City. Preceded in
death by a brother, Clinton and a sister, Pearthenia Pollett.
Funeral
Services will be held Thursday, August 16, 1 p.m., Grantsville Sixth
LDS Ward, 81 North Church St. Friends may call Tate Mortuary, Tooele,
Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and at the church Thursday, 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
Interment: Grantsville City Cemetery.

James P. Howell
Lifelong Resident of Tooele Dies After Long Illness
James P. Howell, 76, died at his home at 180 South First East Monday at 2 p.m. following a lingering illness.
Mr. Howell was born in Tooele August 7, 1870, a son of James and Emily Powell Howell. He lived all of his life in Tooele.
Surviving are his wife Mrs. Lottie Nelson Howell; nine daughters and
one son, Mrs. Doris Wagstaff of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Erna Pederson of
Salt Lake City, Mrs. Viola Tanner, Mrs. Lillian Connely, Mrs. Zella
Snyder, Mrs. Leona Heitsman, Mrs. Florence Boles, Miss Mable Howell and
Miss Betty Howell all of Tooele.
One son Emmett Howell, one brother Ed Howell of Tooele, a halfbrother,
Roswell Howell of Salt Lake City and two half sisters, Mrs. Ethel
Phillips of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Beulah Hart of Visalia, California;
12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Tooele First Ward
Chapel under the direction of Bishop Carver W. Bryan. Burial was in the
Tooele Cemetery.

Mary M. Johanson
Mary Matthews Johanson, age 73, died April 21, 1990 at her home in Grantsvlle.
Born December
3, 1916 in Grantsville to Parley Pratt and Mamie Clark Mathhews.
Married Francis Clark Johanson September 2, 1938 in the Salt Lake
Temple. He passed away February 12, 1987. She was an active member of
the LDS Church and served in the Primary for many years. She also
managed the Grantsville High School lunch room and worked for the U. S.
Postal Service.
She is survived
by three sons, Robert of Orem; Dale and David, both of Grantsville; and
a daughter, Helen K. Boyer, also Grantsville; 12 grandchldren; seven
great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Matthews of Grantsville; two
sisters, Camille Sagers of St. John; and Helen Willardson of Richfield.
Was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Wayne Boyer; and four
brothers, Blaine, Phares, Harold and George.
Funeral
services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Clark Ward Chapel, 550
East Durfee St. in Grantsville, where friends may call one hour prior
to the services. Burial in the Grantsville Cemetery. Funeral directors,
Tate Mortuary.

Mary J. Leatham
Mary Jane Clarke Leatham, 73, died October 25, 1990 in Tooele.
Born June 30,
1917 in Grantsville, Utah to Edward and Mary Lucy Despain Clarke.
Married James B. Leatham October 5, 1935 in Grantsville; marriage
solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, November, 1959. He died January
25, 1983. She was a member of the DUP. She had been a Primary teacher
and member of Relief Society. She served an extraction mission with her
husband.
Survived by
sons, James A., Ogden; Joseph L., Salt Lake City; daughter, Julia L.
Sutton, Grantsville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral
services will be held Monday, October 29, at 12 noon, in the
Grantsville 6th Ward, 81 Church Street. Friends may call at the church
Monday, 11 until 12 noon. Interment, Grantsville City Cemetery.

Parley A. Peterson
Parley Albert Peterson, 73, died at his home August 19, 1990.
Born February
11, 1917 in Grantsville, Utah, to Lenus and Olivia Johnson Peterson.
Married Beatrice Knowlden, February 22, 1942 in Tooele. Marriage
solemnized in the Logan Temple in 1962. Served in the Army, in the
Medical Corp., in World War II in Italy, France and Africa. A life-long
resident of Grantsville. A lifetime member of the VFW. A rockhound and
he loved farming.
Survived by
wife, three sons, Gayle, South Jordan; George, Pataskala, Ohio; Noland,
Sandy; daughter, Irene Morse, West Valley City; 12 grandchildren; three
brothers, Brent, Wesley and Joe and a sister, Vaunita Gollaher, all of
Grantsville; preceded in death by a daughter, Joy and a brother, Arch.
Funeral
services will be held Wednesday, August 22, 11 a.m. at the Grantsville
West Stake Center, 115 East Cherry St., where friends may call from
9:30 to 10:45 prior to the funeral service. Burial: Grantsville City
Cemetery.
