John Thompson Brown
Nov. 20, 1837 —At his father's residence, in Bedford co., John Thompson Brown, of Petersburg. Va., aged 36. He was for several years a very distinguished member of the legislature, was rising rapidly at the bar, and was regarded as one of the most eminent men of his age in the state.

R. M. Ford
Montvale, Va., March 14. – R. M. Ford died here Sunday afternoon, after an illness of several days. He is survived by his wife and four children.

Mrs. Mary G. Morton
ALEXANDRIA, VA., April 16. – Mrs. Mary G. Morton, wife of F. J. Morton, twenty-nine years old, died this morning at the Alexandria Hospital. She was a Miss Kelly, and was a native of Bedford county. Her husband and four children survive.

Moses Pierce
MONTVALE, VA., November 28. – Mr. Moses Pierce, aged eighty-seven, died at his home here on the 24th. He had made quite a reputation by manufacturing a curative salve from pine, and for years sold large quantities. It was put up in wooden boxes, and every household during the late Civil War had a box of “Pierce’s Salve.”
He leaves a large family of married sons and daughters. Mr. Pierce was a Christian, a good, honest citizen, and highly respected by all.

Rev. William W. Turner
Died, the Rev. Wm. W. TURNER, on 4 Sept. 1846. at the residence of his father in Virginia. Born in Bedford on 1 Dec. 1821, he was married to Miss Triphina PEARSON of Tennessee in the fall of 1845. (N.S. v. 1, no. 11,18 March 1847, p. 44.)
