Adams, Saxe, nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-sons; one step-daughter; one foster son; one foster daughter.  Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in the New Hope United Methodist Church, Randolph, with interment in the church cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Browning Funeral Home, Keysville.

RITES HELD FOR EDWIN GRAYSON ADAMS
Edwin Grayson Adams, age 92, of Randolph, VA died Thursday, December 17, 2009.  He was a graduate of Virginia Tech, a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, and a retired Extension Agent for the Department of Agriculture for the City of Hampton and York County.
He is survived by his wife, Anna C. Adams and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, T. Roy and Eva Bailey Adams; and an infant daughter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Phenix Presbyterian Church, with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Phenix Volunteer Fire Department or the Phenix Presbyterian Church.
The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, VA was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hazel Lewis Adams, age 52, of Drakes Branch, died Monday, April 18, 1977, in a South Boston Hospital.  Born July 31, 1923 in Yancey Co., N.C., she was the daughter of the late Joe Lewis and Mary Tolley Lewis.
She is survived by her husband, Cheslie Adams, one son, Van Adams, both of Drakes Branch;  four brothers, Jake Lewis of Cullen, James Lewis of Chester, S.C., Hobert Lewis of the Phillipine Islands, Paul Lewis of Cullen;  four sisters, Mrs. Rettie Brown of Texas, Mrs. Arline Howell of Madisonville, Honey Lewis of Farmville, and Mrs. Retha A. Arnold of Abilene.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 20 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, with interment in Willow Grove Church of God Cemetery at Darlington Heights.

Funeral services for James Henry Adams, of Cullen, Charlotte County, who died in a Richmond Hospital Nov. 9, were held at Oak View Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Mr. Adams is survived by three daughters, Mrs. David C. Allen of Charlotte C.H.; Mrs. Harvie E. Cooke and Mrs. Johnnie E. Elder of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. Lelia Baker of Harrisonburg and Mrs. Ida Andrews of Prospect; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Nellie Newcomb Adams, age 103, of Drakes Branch, Virginia died February 17, 2011.  She was a member of Plantersville United Methodist Church.  The widow of John Quincy Adams, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Adams, a granddaughter, Jean Adams, and a great-grandson, Brad Wilmouth.  She is survived by her children, Melvin Adams of Drakes Branch, James and Madeline Adams of Chase City, Marie and Thomas Snead of Drakes Branch, Hershel and Patsy Adams of Drakes Branch, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren.  The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Wood Funeral Service and where services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Ralph Moore officiating.  Interment will follow in Plantersville United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at  Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, is in charge of arrangements.

Roger Hagood Adams, age 49, died Monday, February 20, 2006, ath his residence.  He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Emporia, where he sang in the men's choir, was past director of the the Emporia-Greensville Chamber of Commerce, and was employed by Mecklenburg Electric.
Roger is survived by his wife, Joyce;  his mother, Nancy Adams of Drakes Branch, and many friends.
A funeral service was conducted Friday, February 24, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Herbert L. Farrar Funeral Home.  The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services were held Monday for Volney Beckna Adams, 69, farmer of Charlotte Court House, who died in a hospital at Lynchburg, Saturday.  He was a member of Oakview Presbyterian Church in Charlotte County.  Surviving are his wife, Rosa Shelton Adams; the following children, Jim Frank Adams, of Charlotte Court House; Private Aftor Marion Adams, of Camp Pickett; Carlisle Dowell Adams of Charlotte Court House; Shelton Mustian Adams, of Williamsburg; B. Mr. Claudie Anderson died at the home of his sister in Roanoke March 19,1974.
Funeral services was held Saturday, March 23 at the Gethsemane United Presbyterian Church, Drakes Branch, Va., Rev. James W. Barnette, officiating.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson and Mrs. Robinette Perkins of Danbury, Conn;  one son, Louis Anderson of Danbury, Conn;  twelve grandchildren;  two sisters, Miss Celia Anderson, Roanoke, Va., and Mrs. Louise Morton, Charlotte C.H., Va.;  two brothers, Sterlie Anderson, Charlotte C.H. and Willie Anderson, Hurt, Va.;  three sons-in-law, Paul Wilson, Dennis Perkins of Danbury, Conn. and Clarence Baker of Brookneal;  one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Anderson;  one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Smith Anderson, Hurt, Va.  Numerous nieces and nephews.


At the hour of going to press we learn that Mr. H. T. Anderson, jr., of Bethlehem died on Monday, at 1 o'clock, from blood poisoning from a carbuncle. 
The remains were interred at Bethlehem on Tuesday, Rev. C.C. Anderson officiating.

RITES HELD FOR J.G. ANDERSON
James G. Anderson, age 79, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Vertie West of Boone, N.C., January 12, 1955.
A funeral service was held at the Collins Funeral Home in Drakes Branch, Friday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m., with burial in the family cemetery near here.
 Services were conducted by the Rev. Fred Fore.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Vertie West, Boone, N.C.;  four sons, Clyde Anderson of Sandston, Zider Anderson of Virgilina, Kelly Anderson of Mosley, Wade Anderson of Pilot Mountain, N.C.;  one daughter Mrs. Judson Wilmouth of Drakes Branch, Va.
Some years ago Mr. Anderson lived at the McNeny farm in Charlotte County.

Obit: RITES HELD FOR MARTHA GUTHRIE ANDERSON

Mrs. Martha Guthrie Anderson, widow of the late Chas. Anderson, of Prince Edward County, Virginia, age 90 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Allen, of near Douglas, on Sunday, December 30th, 1928, at noon after an illness of many months.  On Tuesday at 2 o'clock her remains were interred at Bethlehem Cemetery to sleep beside her loved ones and rest until the resurrection morn.  Services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. ?.  She was the mother of a large family and the ???????????????.  Her prayer was answered.  She had made her home for many years, with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Allen.  Upon her was lavished a great wealth of affection, few widows had more devoted children.  To know her was to love her.  Early in life she united with the Presbyterian Church and lived happily in her Christian faith as she ripened in years Christian experience, matured and her declining years were cherished and brightened.  The faith of the just is a shining light, that shineth more and more into a perfect day.  She leaves to mourn their loss, one daughter, Mrs. Frank Allen;  Mr. Lil Anderson, of Richmond;  Mr. Henry Anderson, of Prince Edward County;  Rev. C.C. Anderson, of Charlotte, N.C., Mr. Sam Anderson, of Prince Edward County;  Mr. Tom Anderson, of Florida.  While her loved ones and friends are sad over loss we deeply feel.  And sometime in the future, when God thinks best we shall go to her where there is rest, sweet rest

Mrs. Willie Wilmouth Anderson, 67, of Charlotte Court House, died Tuesday. 
A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 24 at 3 P.M. in Mt. Tirzah Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen cemetery, Charlotte Court House, Va.
She is survived by her husband Jessie B. Anderson; four sons, John H. and Herman L. Anderson, of Keysville, W. Bailey Anderson, of Danville and Woodrow W. Anderson of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Ferrell of Crewe and Mrs. Thelma Fallen of Keysville; a brother, Creath Wilmouth of Drakes Branch; a sister, Mrs. Ollie T. Jarboe of Cincinnata; 22 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.</HTML>

W.L. ASHWORTH
Mr. Wirt Linwood Ashworth, 73, died Thursday, February 3, in a South Hill Hospital, after an illness of five weeks.  He was a retired Lunenburg County farmer.
He is survived by one brother, Mr. J.F. Ashworth of Victoria and 12 nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at Staples Funeral Home on Saturday at 2 p.m.
with interment at Cool Springs Church Cemetery, Lunenburg County.
The service was conducted by Mr. William J. Oglesby with the following serving as pallbearers, O.W. Wallace of Ontario, T.G. Wallace of Keysville, C.H.
Herndon of Victoria and John B. Haley of Lynchburg.

HON. WILLIAM T. ATKINS
Hon. Wm. T. Atkins, of Mecklenburg, was found unconscious on the morning of the 30th ult., and lingered until Thursday morning, Aug. 2d, when he died.

Obit: Rites Held For Edward B. Averett
Mr. Edward Boyle Averett of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died March 30, 1979, in Erlanger Hospital after a serious fall.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Mastin Averett and his children;  Mrs. E. J. Robeson, ILL, E.B. Averett  Jr., Mrs. R. Hoyt Jones of Keysville, Va. and Mrs. Ben Madison Powell.  He has sixteen grandchildren who include;  Mrs. Gary D. Walker of Charlotte Courth House, Va.;  Dempsey Jones of Farmville;  Averett and "Bert" Jones of Keysville.  Among his nine grandchildren are Misses Lindsay and Alexis Walker of Charlotte Court House.
