ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH CEMETERY
The St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery is located in the extreme South west portion of Frederick County, Virginia. Also it is located near what is known as the Mountain Falls community. While on Highway No 55 proceeding Northwest from Strasburg, Virginia, take a right turn onto road No 600, and then proceed on 600 Northeast to the junction of 600, with roads 604, 606, and 607, and then proceed on 600 again for 3.3 miles Northeast to the Church which lies on the right and Southeast side of 600.

This is a very old burial ground, and a plaque at the entrance of the church indicates that the church was founded in 1796. Another plaque near the church entrances reads-"To the Glory of God and in memory of the safe return of those who served in WW II" which was erected in 1947. Yet another plaque near the parking lot reads - "In Memory of the Snapp family" who donated the paved parking lot in 1983. The plaque was erected by Mary Jane Snapp Hamrick.

Both the church and the cemetery grounds are in excellent condition. There are however, many dozens of unmarked graves which formerly were probably marked with wooden or cedar plank markers which have rotted away many years past, and are now marked with flat concrete ground level un-inscribed markers 24" x 5" x 1".

During September of 1985 a cursory examination of this cemetery was made by Jeanette Conner Ritenour, Delford Keckley, and this compiler-researcher Duane L. Borden. On the 16 of Oct. 1985 the tombstone inscriptions were transcribed by Jeanette Conner Ritenour, Mrs. George, same as before, Doris George, Mrs. Ralph, Route 2, Box 172A, Woodstock, Shenandoah County, Virginia, 22664.

Those tombstone inscriptions were transcribed for Genealogy Trails by Foxie Hagerty who adds:
"I believe this is only a partial listing of this cemetery. "
