Thomas J. Flythe
Emporia, VA., March 18 - Thomas J. Flythe, one of the oldest citizens of Greeneville County, died of pneumonia at his home in North Emporia on Sunday morning. He was in his eightieth year. Mr. Flythe passed his entire life in this county. He served during the four years of the war, and was with Lee at Appomattox. He is survived by five sons: John, of New York; Clarence of Richmond; Richard and Cary of North Emproia, and Thomas J., of Portsmouth; and one daughter, Mrs. R. E. Emory, of Chase City. The burial service was conducted by Dr. W. W. Lear, of the Methodist Church, and the interment was in the Emporia cemetery.

Died, Capt. Henry WYCHE of Greensville Co., Va., of which he was three times High Sheriff, on 5 Dec. 1846. A large family of children survives. (N.S. v. 1, no. 5, 4 February 1847, p. 20.)
