Harold Hagood Adams of 510 Cheverly Drive, South Boston died Saturday, May 29, 1999 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was 60 years of age at the time of his death
Mr. Adams was born in Charlotte County on June 9, 1938 the son of Chesley Albert Adams and Pearl Newcomb Adams and was married to Betty C. Adams.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Roger H. Adams of Emporia; three step-children, Leon Stanley and Christopher Powell, both of Nathalie and Annette Watts of Roxborox, NC; four sisters, Charlotte Thompson of Fort Mitchell, Hazel Fitz of Wylliesburg, Shirley Scott of Drakes Branch and Mildred Mangum of South Boston; He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Chesley Adams, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Adams will be held Tuesday, June 1 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Barwick conducting the service. Burial will follow in Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening,
May 31 from 7 until 8:30 at Powell Funeral Home and other times at
the home.
John W. Cassada
SOUTH
BOSTON, VA., February 12. – John W. Cassada, a prominent Mason and
Odd-Fellow, died suddenly at his home, near Scottsburg, early this
morning, aged fifty-seven. His remains will be brought here tomorrow
for burial. He leaves a widow and one son, John W. Cassada,
Jr.

Mrs. Alice S. Dickerson
SCOTTSBURG,
VA., December 25. – Mrs. Alice S. Dickerson, the wife of John S.
Dickerson, one of the oldest citizens, died today at 5 A.M., after a
long illness of typhoid fever. She was fifty-seven years old, and
leaves three children – Emmett Dickerson, Mrs. W. S. Wilbourne, of
Warsaw, N. C., and Miss Pearl Dickerson.

Rooker Nichols
HALIFAX COUNTY FARMER IS KILLED BY TRAIN
SOUTH BOSTON, June 17 -- James Rooker
Nichols, 60, prominent Halifax County farmer, was killed instantly by a train on the Southern Railway about 6 A.M. today near News Ferry Station.
A funeral service will be held 3 P.M. Tuesday at Clover Baptist Church, with burial in Clover Cemetery.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Utilla Guthrie Nicholas, he is survived by seven brothers, P.C. Nichols, of Newport News; John Nichols, of Durham, N.C., and V.C., A.E., J.M., W.J. and A.V. Nichols, of Clover; six sisters, Mrs. C.F. Carden, of South Boston; Mrs. James Shrud, of Saxe; Mrs. A.B. Guthrie and Mrs. J.R. Overstreet of Clover; Mrs. W.W. Throckmorton, of South Boston, and Mrs. C.H. Wood, of Virgilina; two daughters, Mrs. John P. Bruno and Miss Ruth Nichols of News Ferry, and two sons, Warren J. Nichols of Washington, and Eugene J. Nichols, of News Ferry.
Mr. Nichols was the Uncle of Mr. H.W. Nichols, operator of the Keysville Dry Cleaners.

J. H. Sizemore Dies at Home After Long Illness
Funeral services for James Henry Sizemore, age 69 years, were held fro the Brook's Funeral Home Saturday, march 17th at 3:00P.M. He had been in declining health for the past year, but his sudden death came as a great shock to his family and his many friends.
He was born in Halifax County, December 11, 1875, the son of the late William J. and Alice W. Sizemore. His education was received in the schools of this county.
In 1897 he was united in marriage to Miss Sallie Ann Daniel, who preceded him to the grave several years ago. He was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church.
He leaves one son, J. Clifton Sizemore, a sister, Mrs. Alex Jones, a brother, Charles Sizemore and a half brother, J.W. Crews, all of South Boston. Rev. Arthur Roach, pastor of the West End Methodist Church, conducted the service.
Pall bearers were: C.C. Cumby, J. L. Puryear, Thurman Hall, James Williams, Howard Thomas, and E.L Hazelwood.

Joe Wade
Funeral services were held last Saturday at 3p.m. for Joe Wade of Clover who died at his home last Friday. He was 86 years old.
The rites were conducted from the graveside at Hunting Creek Baptist church cemetery, with the Rev. J. Kenneth Clark officiating.
Mr. Wade was the son of the late Elisha and Nancy Hazelwood Wade. He was born August 9, 1864. He retired as a miner sometime ago.
He is survived by two children, Mrs. John Newcomb of Clover and Mr. Emmett Wade of Switchback, West Virginia.
Also left are three sisters, Mrs. Sara Lacks, Miss Florence Wade of Clover, and Mrs. Carrie Waters, of Newport News.

Mrs. R. A. Walden
South
Boston, Va., August 5. – Mrs. R. A. Walden, aged twenty-eight, died
at her home, on Ellison Street, last night, after a brief illness.
The internment will be made at Scottsburg tomorrow. Before her
marriage she was Miss Octavia Martin, of Richmond. She is survived
by her mother, Mrs. Cora Martin, of Richmond; her husband and one
child; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Harris and Miss Sadie Martin, of
Richmond, and four brothers – Burwell Martin, of Richmond; Julius
Martin, United States Army; William Martin, of Washington, and
Russell Martin, of Richmond.

Va., March 22. – Mrs. Mary E. Wilmuth, wife of B. G. Wilmuth, aged
seventy-three years, died near here today. Her children are Mrs.
Stephen Morris, of Richmond; Mrs. J. H. Hamlet, of Durham, N.C.;
Mrs. Antoine Francis, Mrs. J. H. Richmond, William and Joseph
Wilmuth, of Halifax county.
