John Rawlings came from Maryland prior to 1728. His son James married Sarah Holladay. one James sold the homeplace at Madison Run to Asa Brockman.

James Taylor from Carlisle, England, married 1st Frances and second, Mary Gregory. He was head of the house, still in possession of the family at Orange.

William Williams, d. 1712, married Jael Harrison, came to Orange from Spottvania.

Dr. John Willis of Whitehall, Gloucester, married and lived at Woodley, Orange. He married Nellie Conway Madison. Col. John Willis married in 1838 Lucy Taliaferro Madison.

John Graves, who died in Spottaylvania County in 1747, was head of the Graves family that multiplied and spread over Orange. He was descended from Thomas Graves, sheriff who came to Accomac in 1608. All his descendants may claim right to membership in the First Families of Virginia.

Francis Browning, b. 1680, came to Orange from Essex. His son Francis married Frances Courtney, and his son John married Elizabeth Strother, whose ancestor, William Strother, was immigrant who died 1702. J. W. Browning, a member of this pioneer family, was County Clerk of Orange and compiler of Browning's Abstracts, which is jealously guarded by survivors.

The Cook family came from Thomas Cook who obtained early land grants in Orange and Spottaylvaina. Ambrose Cook, born 1720, seems to have been the head of the present Cook family of Orange. Sold land to John Brockman.
