FOUR ARE KILLED IN WESTERN FIGHT
Officers and Robbers Clash After Burglary of Two Stores in Kennewick, Wash.

    Spokane, Wash., Nov. 2-Four men are dead as a result of a battle near Kennewick, Wash., between officers and two men who robbed two stores in Kennewick. Mike Glover, marshal of Kennewick, was killed instantly; Jacob Lake, an ex-convict, was instantly killed; Joe Holser, deputy sheriff, and Frank Perry, member of  a posse accidentally shot in stomach by a deputy sheriff, died of their wounds. The captured robber gives his name as Robert Layton, and is 18 years old. The young bandit fired four times at close range at Harry Roseman, a citizen, but missed him.  (Submitted by Shauna Williams)

Corporal Mann Here
Edwin Mann, a former Sun Prairie boy, but now of Kennewick, Washington, is visiting among relatives here. He is a Corporal of the Field Artillery at Vera Cruz, and about six weeks ago during a charge, his horse stepped in a hold, throwing him, and injuring his leg, he was at a hospital at New York left for France.  (Submitted by Shauna Williams)

COPIES ARREST ORDER
    Kennewick, Wash.-Theodore Smith, a telegraph operator here was sitting at his key when a message came in from Norfolk, Neb. It was from the sheriff, ordering Smith's arrest on an embezzlement charge. The operator copied the message and delivered it and himself to local authorities.  (Submitted by Shauna Williams)
