Kennewick
Kennewick, a town in the
southeastern part of Benton County, opposite Pasco, on the Columbia River. It
was named in 1883 by H.S. Huson of the Northern Pacific Irrigation Company. The
word is Indian and means "grassy place." (A.R. Gardner, editor of the Kennewick
