Young Homesteader Killed By Officers

Keller, Wash., May 26 - Ernest C. Emily, a young homesteader and world war veteran, was shot and killed Sunday "by design" on part of W.C. West and J.G. Montgomery, described as "federal officers" and J.L. Moore, sheriff of Ferry county, according to the verdict of a coroner's jury, announced today. Emily, who was suspected of violating the national prohibition amendment, was shot by the officers when, they asserted, he failed to stop his automobile at their command.
