| Andrew Mowatt, aged
about 65 years, died very suddenly while in the act of rising from
his slumbers early last Wednesday morning at Chewelah, Stevens
county. Deceased was a native of Scotland, and came to American when
quite young. After living in Canada a short time, he came west,
arriving in Washington Territory, where he settled in Colville
valley in 1857. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church,
and a very highly respected citizen. He leaves a son George Mowatt
and a sister, Mrs. Thomas Brown, both living at Chewelah.
