Bruss, Albert W. (22 Nov. 1874 – 8 June 1964)

* Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby for Albert W. Bruss, of Colby, who died at 5 a.m. Monday at a Wausau hospital. The Rev. Harold Woodworth will officiate, and burial will be made in the North Spencer cemetery. The body is reposing at the Lulloff Funeral Home.
Albert W. Bruss was born Nov. 22, 1874, in Germany, and came to the United States at the age of 4 years, and settled in the Spencer area. He had been a cheesemaker for many years in this area before his retirement. He was married to Amelia Schwantes, who preceded him in death April 19, 1963.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Evelyn) Hahn. West Allis; Mrs. Arnold (Gladys) Beawer, Hamburg; Mrs. Fred (Bernice) Kress, Milwaukee; and Mrs. G. G. (Anita) Bock, Allen Park, Mich.; a son, Elroy Bruss, Cedarburg; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Frank, August and Otto Bruss, Spencer; and a sister, Mrs. Ida Seefeldt, Spencer.

* Colby – Mrs. Albert W. Bruss, 80, died about 11:10 p.m. Friday at her home in Colby. She had been in poor health for some time.
Funeral services are tentatively set for Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be made in the North Spencer cemetery.
Friends may call at the Lulloff Funeral Home beginning Sunday.
The former Amelia Schwantes was born in Spencer Feb. 24, 1883, and was married to Albert Bruss on Nov. 6, 1902, at Spencer. The couple operated a cheese factory in the town of Hull until 1926 when they moved to the city of Colby.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Evelyn) Hahn, West Allis; Mrs. A. F. (Gladys) Beawer, Hamburg; Mrs. Fred (Bernice) Kresse, Milwaukee; and Mrs. G. G. (Anita) Bock, Allen Park, Mich.; a son, Elroy, Cedarburg; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Greeler, Neillsville.
Bruss, August (? – June 1949)

* Word has been received here of the death of August Bruss, a former Unity resident, in Chicago, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Peterson.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Brillion, Wis. Prior to his retirement several years ago, Mr. Bruss operated a farm two miles south of Unity.
Bruss, Clarence (? – 20 Jan. 1951)

* Clarence Bruss, well known in Unity, died on Saturday, January 20th at his home in Chicago. He resided with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Peterson, former residents of the Town of Brighton until a few years ago when they moved to Chicago.
Funeral services were held at Brillion Tuesday afternoon.
Those attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Johnson and Joseph Breuer.
Bruss, Lydia (19 Mar. 1903 – 6 Nov. 1948)

* Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Swarthout Funeral Home and at 2 o’clock at the St. John’s Lutheran Church for Mrs. Otto Bruss, 46, who was killed in an auto accident three miles north of here on Highway 13 early Saturday morning. Rev. H. C. Hinz officiated at the services and burial was made in the West Spencer cemetery.
The accident occurred when Mr. and Mrs. Bruss were returning from visiting friends in Unity. They turned off of 13 and onto Highway 153 and when the car stalled on the railroad track, Mr. Bruss got out to see if a train was coming. Mrs. Bruss, upon returning to the car after seeking help to pull the car off the tracks, was struck by a car driven by Alex Schwantes.
The victim was taken by Mr. Bruss and Schwantes to Colby and was pronounced dead by Dr. A. L. Schemner at 1:30 A.M. Marathon County Coroner John Hildensperger said that no inquest would be held.
Lydia Damrow was born March 19, 1903 to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Damrow in the Town of Sherman, and was married to Otto Bruss at St. John’s Lutheran Church, July 15, 1920.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Willard, Milwaukee; and a daughter, Beatrice, a junior in Spencer High School. Three brothers, Edward, Henry and Martin, who live in the west, also survive, as does her father, who has been making his home with the Bruss family since the death of Mrs. Damrow. A sister also preceded Mrs. Bruss in death.
Pallbearers at the funeral were Leonard, Martin, and Elmer Bruss, Reuben and Lester Frank and Albert Manz.
