Erickson, Eric Arvid (10 Apr. 1876 – 10 Sept. 1945)

* Eric Arvid Erickson, aged 69 years, who lived at Romeo, died of a heart ailment Monday, Sept. 10 at St. Joseph hospital in Marshfield. He suffered a stroke August 6. Funeral services will be conducted this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o’clock at the Unity Methodist church, with Rev. M. B. Ferguson in charge. Internment will be in the Colby cemetery.

Mr. Erickson was born in Sweden April 10, 1876, and came to this country in 1882, to settle on his present farm home at Romeo. His marriage to Nellie Crossgrove took place at Nashua, Iowa on May 20, 1930. A brother, Ed Erickson lives at Unity, and a sister, Mrs. Geo. Hahney at Rib Lake. He was a member of the official board of the Unity Methodist church, was treasurer of the former Romeo co-op cheese factory and also held various offices on the school board.

Funeral services for Arvid Erickson, who died Monday, Sept. 10 at St. Joseph hospital in Marshfield, the result of a heart ailment, were held last Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Erickson home and at 2 o’clock at Unity Methodist church, of which he had been a member for many years. The Rev. M. B. Ferguson was in charge of the services and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. During the services Mr. and Mrs. Ted Domer sang Saved by Grace, Nearer My God to Thee, and Jesus Leads with Mrs. Elmer Langjahr as accompanist. Pall bearers were Harley Powers, Gust Ringquist, Willie Williamson, August Anderson, Mogan Schjonneman and Ervin Purnett. Flowers were carried by Doris Crossgrove, Ruby Drews, Mrs. Violet Topel, Mrs. Richard Erickson, Mrs. Sewell Cook, Mrs. Martin Evenson, Mrs. Victor Anderson, Mrs. Walter Anderson, Elaine Domer and Esther Anderson.

Those from away attending the funeral were Henry and Clifford Johnson of Sister Bay; Mrs. Violet Topel of Wisconsin Rapids; Miss Ruby Drews of Rhinelander; Mrs. R. W. Scott and Mrs. A. Schmetter of Belleville; Victor Crossgrove of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Oldenberg of Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Griffith and Peter Korntved of Rhinelander; Mr. and Mrs. William Price of Neillsville; Mrs. Lyle Fuller of Wausau and Mrs. R. W. Cook of Marathon.

Erickson, Fern Audrey (20 Apr. 1904 – 1 Apr. 1931)

* Mrs. Talbert Erickson, whose maiden name was Fern Audrey Pederson, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Pederson of Colby, died Wednesday, April 1, 1931, after a short illness. On April 4, she was laid to rest in Windfall cemetery at Granton, Wis.

The deceased was born April 20, 1904, at Ocheyedan, Iowa, at which place she lived until 1908 when she moved with her parents to Greenwood, Wis. Here she grew to womanhood and graduated from high school. She then made her home at Stevens Point until she was married to Talbert Erickson of Marshfield, Wis., on June 1, 1926. They made their home at Marshfield for two years, on a farm at Auburndale for one year, and, in November 1928, they moved to Granton where they lived ever since.

On August 7, 1929, a daughter, Doris Reva, was born and passed away immediately. She was laid to rest at Granton.

On March 29, 1931, Mrs. Erickson was taken ill very suddenly and on March 30 was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield where it was hoped she might regain her health, but, at 3:30 on Wednesday, April 1, she passed on to her eternal home.

In her early life, she was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal church and was ever active in church and Sunday school work. She was a most kind and loving wife and was ever ready to do what she could to help others.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Talbert Erickson of Granton, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Pederson, a sister, Velda Pederson, a brother, Truman L. Pederson, all of Colby, Wis. Also many other relatives and a host of friends.


Erickson, Joseph (1864 – 25 Feb. 1951)

* Funeral Services were held for Joseph Erickson, 86, Unity, at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, Marshfield, officiating.

Burial was made in the Unity cemetery. Mr. Erickson died at 4 P.M. Sunday at the Old Folks Home, Greenwood. He recently suffered a broken hip.

The deceased was born in Finland and came to the United States as a young man. He had lived 2 miles west of Unity practically all of his life. He made his home with his brother, Charles, until the death of his brother, when he went to Greenwood to live.

He is survived by a brother, Victor, Quincy, Mass. A brother and sister preceded him in death.

Erickson, Josephine (3 Aug. 1866 – 7 Nov. 1951)

* Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Erickson, 85, who died Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lueth, Route 1, Abbotsford, were held Friday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran church at Unity. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Erickson had lived on a farm near Unity until about nine months ago when she came to make her home with her daughter. She was in poor health and a bed patient since July.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Ellen) Lueth, Abbotsford; Mrs. Alva (Ina) Peterson, Unity; and a son, Arthur Erickson, also of Unity. There are nine grand children and three great grand children.

A daughter preceded her in death in 1936 and Mr. Erickson died in 1939.

* Mrs. Josephine Erickson, 85, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lueth, Abbotsford at 3:35 A.M. Wednesday, November 7 of old age complications.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, with burial in the parish cemetery.

The body reposed at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby until the services.

Mrs. Erickson was born in Finland, August 3, 1866. She was married to Carl Erickson in Finland in 1887. Mr. Erickson came to America in 1891 and Mrs. Erickson came eight years later, in 1899.

They lived on a farm about 3 miles west of Unity for 60 years and last February she went to Abbotsford to stay at the Lueth home.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Her husband passed away December 24, 1939. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward Lueth, Abbotsford, and Mrs. Albert Peterson, Unity, and one son, Arthur of Unity. There are also nine living grandchildren.


Erickson, Minnie (2 May 1887 – 15 Mar. 1935)

Mrs. Otto Erickson of Unity passed away at the St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield Friday afternoon at the age of forty-seven years. Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran church at Unity Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. J. A. Olson officiating, and internment was made in the parish cemetery.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Minnie Carlson, was born in Finland, May 2, 1887. Before coming to this vicinity she made her home in Hibbing, Minn. She was a member of the local Lutheran church and of the Ladies’ Aid and Missionary societies.

Surviving relatives include the following children: Edwin, Raymond, and Dorothy Snowberg, and Oscar and Paul Erickson, all at home, and one brother, Charles Carlson, Hibbing, Minn.
