* Spencer – Adela Huber, 84, Spencer, died at 4:40 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. William Ruhbusch will officiate and burial will be in the West Spencer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael, Greg, Randy, Larry, Steve, and Tom Huber. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Bushman, Allan Mayer, John Kruse, Brian Olson and Rob Wagner.

Visitation will be at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

She was born July 24, 1903, in Spencer to August and Elizabeth Hoops. She attended Spencer schools. She was married to Edward Huber on July 6, 1924, at Spencer.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She was also a 50 – year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two sons, David of Marshfield and Elroy of Spencer; a sister, Laura Wry of Spencer; a brother, Wilbur Hoops of Marshfield; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband on Nov. 7, 1986, her parents, and two brothers.

Huber, Amelia (22 Dec. 1876 – 1 Sept. 1963)

Illness Fatal to Spencer Woman

* Spencer – Mrs. Amelia Huber, 76, Spencer, died at 4 o’clock this morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she was admitted as a patient several weeks ago.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Randolph Mueller officiating and burial will be made in the West Spencer cemetery. Beginning this evening the body will repose at the Swarthout Funeral Home until 12:30 p.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church.

Mrs. Huber was born Dec. 22, 1876, in Czechoslovakia and came to this country with her parents when four years old. They settled on a farm outside of Spencer, where she lived until her marriage to Wenzel Huber on Oct. 7, 1893, at Spencer. After this date she moved to Neillsville and lived there four years before moving to the Town of Brighton. Later she moved into the village of Spencer. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1949.

Nine children survive. They are Edward, Charles, Arthur, Peter, Mrs. Martin (Frieda) Hoops, Mrs. William (Sophia) Oelrich, Mrs. Ray (Ella) Matter, and Mrs. Rudolph (Vera) Schweke, all of Spencer, and Mrs. Orville (Ada) Taylor, Dorchester. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Huber, Edward A. (7 Feb. 1895 – 7 Nov. 1986)

* Spencer – Edward A. Huber, 91, of 506 W. Main St., died at 9:20 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been admitted the same day.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, with the Rev. William Ruhbusch officiating. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rux Funeral Home, Spencer.

He was born Feb. 7, 1895, in Spencer. His marriage to Adela Hoops was July 6, 1924, at Spencer.

He operated a cheese factory in the Town of Unity until 1945, then moved to Spencer where he worked for Dairy Belt. He was a charter member of Former Lee F. Pickett American Legion Post, Spencer, and was a member of Colby VFW Post 2227. He also was a World War I veteran and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, David of Marshfield and Elroy of Spencer, 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur and Theodore Huber, both of Spencer; four sisters, Mrs. Martin (Freida) Hoops of Colby, Mrs. Orville (Ada) Taylor of Owen; Mrs. Raymond (Ella) Matter and Mrs. Eldor (Vera) Mellenthin, both of Spencer.

He was predeceased by one brother, one sister and his parents, Wenzel and Amelia (Stelzl) Huber.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.


Huber, Henry (26 Sept. 1879 – 4 Oct. 1960)

* Funeral services were held last Friday morning at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels in Sheboygan for Henry Huber, a former Colby citizen, who died Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan after a lingering illness. Burial was made in the Colby cemetery where graveside services were held.

Mr. Huber was born on Sept. 26, 1879, in northern Germany, the son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Huber. As a young boy he came with his family to the U.S. settling at Prairie du Sac, Wis. He attended elementary school and was confirmed at the Lutheran church there.

On Feb. 24, 1909, he was married to Elsa Brehm of Sheboygan. The couple made their home on a dairy farm at Colby. Following his wife’s death in 1940 he retired in 1943 and moved to Sheboygan, where he has resided since.

Survivors include: one son, Jesse Huber, of Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Mrs. Willard (Lillian) Faas, of Kohler, Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) Dottal, of Sheboygan and Mrs. Joseph (Annette) Matavka, of Racine; 16 grand children; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Christine Wierich, of Prairie du Sac, and Mrs. Henry Dieterle, of St. Petersburg, Fla. Others preceding him in death were two sons and two brothers.


Huber, Roy J. (? – 1948?)

* The casketed remains of Private First Class Roy J. Huber, a World War II deceased member of the army from Prairie du Sac, being returned from overseas for final burial, will arrive in Unity within the next month, accompanied by a uniformed U.S. Army Escort from the Chicago Distribution Center of the American Graves Registration Division.

The body of Pfc. Huber was interred in the Finschaffen temporary military cemetery in New Guinea but has been returned to this country for final internment at the request of his next of kin, Mr. Henry G. Huber, Prairie du Sac, Wis.


Huber, Wenzel (6 Sept. 1870 – 2 Oct. 1949)

* Spencer – Funeral services for Wenzel Huber, 79, will be held at the Swarthout Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. and at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

He died at his home at 1:45 p.m. Sunday following an illness of three months. Burial will be made in the West Spencer cemetery, the Rev. Randolph Mueller officiating. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until time of the services.

Mr. Huber was born in Czechoslovakia Sept. 6, 1870. He was married to Amelia Stelzl at Spencer, Oct. 7, 1893. He lived in Spencer 56 years and at Neillsville four years.

Survivors include his wife, four sons, Edward, Charles, Arthur and Peter, all of Spencer; and five daughters, Mrs. Martin (Freda) Hoops, Mrs. William (Sophie) Oelrich, Mrs. Raymond (Ella) Matter, and Mrs. Rudolph (Vera) Schweke, Spencer; and Mrs. Orville (Ada) Taylor, Dorchester. There are 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
