* Spencer – Anna Luepke, 80, Spencer, died today at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, with the Rev. William Ruhbusch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John and Jeffrey Kiedaisch, David, Paul and Frank Luepke and Norbert Griepentrog. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Bruesewitz, Carl Graupner, Norman Kommer, Norbert Boock and Martin Below.

Visitation will be at Rux Funeral Home, Spencer, after 4 p.m. Thursday.

She was born Aug. 10, 1910, in the town of Brighton, to the late Frank and Clara (Naatz) Neumann. She attended town of Brighton public schools and St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School, north of Spencer.

She was married to Walter Luepke June 4, 1931, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1981. He died April 19, 1987.

She and her husband operated Woodland Cheese Factory, east of Unity. They also farmed in the town of Brighton. They moved to Spencer in 1946.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and LLL. She was an honorary member of the Ladies Guild and taught Sunday School for 18 years.

Survivors include one son, Walter Jr. of Reedsburg; one daughter, Mrs. John (Donna) Kiedaisch of Woodridge, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Darel (Frances) Griepentrog and Mrs. Earl (Bertha) Cramer, both of Spencer, and Mrs. William (Erna) Beier of Milwaukee; and five grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by one son, one brother and one granddaughter.

Luepke, August F. (3 Aug. 1878 – 31 Jan. 1968)

* August F. Luepke, 89, of 308 N. Central Ave., died at 4 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the Bethel Convalescent Home where he had resided since June, 1967.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hansen Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Dafoe, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Hillside cemetery.

The body will repose at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Thursday until the time of services.

Mr. Luepke was born Aug. 3, 1878, at Romeo in Clark County, and received his education there. His marriage to Elizabeth Fenhouse, who preceded him in death in 1962, took place April 2, 1906, at Bessemer, Mich.

After their marriage, the couple resided at Spencer, Unity, Colby, Loyal and Ladysmith before coming to Marshfield in 1941. Mr. Luepke had farmed in the area and while in Spencer was in the feed business.

Survivors are three daughters, Miss Elnora Luepke, Marshfield; Mrs. Myron (Hazel) Riplinger, LaCrosse; and Mrs. Harold (Viola) Newman, Loyal; four sons, Warnerd, James and Melvin Luepke, all of Milwaukee; and Vern Luepke , Aledo, Ill.; a step son, Casper Tietma, Grand Rapids, Mich.; 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Three daughters preceded him in death.


Luepke, Elizabeth (12 Aug. 1882 – 15 May 1962)

* Mrs. August Luepke, 79, of 211 N. Chestnut Ave., died of age complications shortly before noon Tuesday at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hansen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. R. L. Jacobs, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery.

The body will repose at the funeral home beginning Thursday noon.

The former Elizabeth Fenhouse was born Aug. 12, 1882 in Fond du Lac County. She moved to Castlewood, S.D., and in 1906 moved to Spencer. Her marriage took place in Bessemer, Mich., on April 29, 1908 to August Luepke. After their marriage, they lived in Spencer except for a short time when they resided in Colby, Loyal and Ladysmith. In 1941, they came to Marshfield. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1958.

She is survived by her husband; five sons, Casper, Grand Rapids, Mich.; James, Warnerd and Melvin, Milwaukee; and Vern, Aledo, Ill.; three daughters, Miss Elnora Luepke, Marshfield; Mrs. Harold (Viola) Newman, Loyal, and Mrs. Myron (Hazel) Riplinger, LaCrosse; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Will Ganford, Castlewood, S.D.; Mrs. Harley Graves, Spencer; Mrs. Grace Davis, Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Hugo Otto, Athens; and Mrs. Bessie Sperry, Racine, and three brothers, Henry and Farrett Fenhouse, Spencer, and William Fenhouse, Ladysmith.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.


Luepke, Eunice L. (30 May 1932 – 12 Apr. 1986)

* Spencer – Mrs. Elroy (Eunice L.) Luepke, 53, of 107 Kobs St., Spencer, died at 2 a.m. Sunday at her home.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. William Ruhbusch will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rux Funeral Home, Spencer.

Pallbearers will be Gary, Bruce and Glenn Luepke, Jim and Dennis Krause, and Richard Mielke.

The former Eunice L. Schultz was born May 30, 1932, in Marshfield, a daughter of Albert and Adelia (Schwantes) Schultz. She graduated from Unity High School and Eau Claire Lutheran School of Nursing.

She was married to Elroy Luepke Sept. 24, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Spencer. He survives.

She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, and she and her husband operated the Gambles Store in Spencer for a number of years. She was also Marathon County nurse and later director of nursing at Colonial Living Center, Colby.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women Missionary League.

Surviving is one daughter, Lori Luepke, Minneapolis; one brother, Norbert Schultz, Spencer; and one sister, Mrs. Ernst (Berdeanne) Krause, Spencer.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.


Luepke, Frederick A. (4 Jan. 1892 – 2 Apr. 1976)

* The Rev. Clarence R. Witte will conduct services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Hansen Chapel for Frederick A. Luepke, 84, Route 1, Abbotsford. He died at 9:04 p.m. Friday at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Burial will be in the North Spencer Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hansen Chapel from 2-9 p.m. today and until time of services Tuesday.

Mr. Luepke was born Jan. 4, 1892, in the Town of Unity, Clark County, and received his education at the Clark County schools. He farmed in Spencer for many years and also worked for Gateway Lumber Co. for 12 years. In 1954, he moved to Route 1, Abbotsford, where he farmed until retiring in 1963.

He had been a resident of Family Heritage Nursing Home in Wisconsin Rapids since Feb. 27, 1967.

On July 30, 1919, he married the former Sena Hoops, who died Dec. 30, 1933. He then married Rosa Lucht on Dec. 19, 1936. She died in June 1956. On Sept. 16, 1967, at Wisconsin Rapids, he married Olga Balkenende, who survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Pauline) Zwicke, Waukegan, Ill., Mrs. Jeanette Weister, Torrence, Calif., and Mrs. Alex (Virginia) Krohn, Route 3, Marshfield; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Townsend, Route 4, Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Florence Edens, Fayetteville, N.C., Mrs. Charles (Elenora) Caira, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Dennis (Jo Ann) Schiller, Wausau; three sisters, Mrs. Alvina Oelrich, Mrs. Dora Voelker and Mrs. Ella Cramer, all of Spencer, 16 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Five sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death.
