* Mrs. Frank Schmidt of Abbotsford passed away Saturday, heart failure being the cause of her death. Funeral services were held at the F. W. Lulloff undertaking parlors Tuesday morning, Rev. F. G. Hahn officiating, and internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery. The deceased was born in Austria and reached the age of sixty-six years. She is survived by her husband of Abbotsford and daughter, Mrs. Edgar Brown of Colby.

Edward J. Schmidt (25 Dec. 1903 – 22 Sept. 1982)

* LOYAL – Edward J. Schmidt, 78, Route 3, died at 7:05 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Rev. James Logan officiating.

Friends may call at the Rinka Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Friday.

Elizabeth A. Schmidt (7 July 1915 – 12 Nov. 2002)

* THORP – Elizabeth A. Schmidt, 87, of Thorp, died Nov. 12, 2002.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard’s – St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary Service, at the Thorp Funeral Home.

Fred H. Schmidt (3 Dec. 1890 – 21 Mar. 1960)

Fred H. Schmidt of Unity, Route 1, died of complications at his home Monday afternoon. Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 1:30 P.M. at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Rev. William Christian officiating, and burial will be made in the Loyal Cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt was born on Dec. 3, 1890, Eldorado. He married Emma Mae Schmidt at Eldorado on June 18, 1913. They came to Clark County in 1932 and farmed in the Colby until a year ago when they moved to their present home.

Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Elsie) Muche of Mayville, Mrs. Spencer (Lydia) Johnson of Marshfield, Mrs. Nick (Catherine) Stein of Madison, Mrs. Judson (Lucille) Phipps of Granton, Mrs. Carl (Gladys) Gottschalk of Unity; three sons, Henry Schmidt of Lublin, Fred Schmidt Jr., of Iron Ridge, Lester Schmidt of Horicon; 35 grand children; one great grand child; two sisters, Mrs. Gust Polinski of Oakfield, Mrs. Otto Redman of Brandon; two brothers, Henry Schmidt of San Diego, Calif., and Louis Schmidt of Oakfield. Two children and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held for Fred Schmidt at the Lulloff Funeral Home last Thursday afternoon, Rev. Wm. R. Christian officiating and burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery. Pall bearers were Anthony Schuh, Arnold Ohlinger, Fred Stecker, Robert Amacher, Louis Borchert, and Clarence Farning.

Infant Girl Schmidt (1929? – 25 Feb. 1931)

* The two years old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Schmidt, residing about four miles east and a mile and one-half north of Colby died last week Wednesday, a disease of the throat being the cause of her departure. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church Saturday afternoon, Rev. Lachnit officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery.


Richard W. Schmidt (8 May 1887 – 12 Feb. 1972)

* Dorchester – Richard W. Schmidt Sr., 84, formerly of Dorchester, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Hospital, Owen, where he had resided the past year and a half.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church here, with the Rev. F. H. Sprengler, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in the Dorchester Memorial cemetery.

Visitations may be made at the Maurine Funeral Home here beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Schmidt was born May 8, 1887, in the town of Rantoul, Calumet County, and went to Marshfield at an early age and received his education there. He was married Nov. 24, 1912, in Wausau, to Alfrieda Koch, who preceded him in death, Jan. 31, 1966. After their marriage they farmed south of Spencer for three years and he was engaged in the automobile business in Marshfield for three years. In 1922 they moved to a farm in the town of Holton and in 1950 the couple moved into the village of Dorchester.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Evaline) Lindrud, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Alvin (Ruth) Regel and Mrs. Carl (Eleanore) Moen, both of Marshfield; five sons, Harold, Germany; Richard Schmidt Jr., Dorchester; Theodore, Abbotsford; Walter, Los Gatos, Calif.; and Alvin, Wisconsin Rapids; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Mamie) Riedel, Lynn.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son in infancy.


Tillie Schmidt (1885? – 9 Aug. 1960)

* Miss Tillie Schmidt, age 75, who formerly operated a ladies’ wear shop in Dorchester and Abbotsford, was found dead in her home in Dorchester Tuesday morning by the driver of a laundry truck who entered the house to collect her laundry, his usual practice since she has been a wheel-chair patient after an accident in 1954. Death was due to a heart attack.

The driver called her brother-in-law, Edward Fuchsgruber of Kimberly, owner of the Fuchsgruber Funeral Home at Dorchester.
