Stecker, Arlene I. (4 May 1926 – 11 Nov. 2006)

* Arlene I. Stecker, 80, of Arpin died Saturday morning Nov. 11, 2006, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Hansen Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate.
Maldon Plank will provide music with Duane Helgerson serving as soloist. Burial will be in the Hillsided Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Redmond, Art Hill, Frank Zickert, Gary Andres, Tom Orsi and Dan Fjelstad. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, and again from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday, at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stecker was born May 4, 1926, in the town of Brighton in Marathon County, a daughter of Adolph and Ida (Mellenthin) Stelzl. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1943.
On March 9, 1946, in Wautoma, the former Arlene Stelzl was united in holy marriage to Sylvester Stecker. The couple lived in the Colby area after their marriage until moving to Arpin in 1950, where they raised their family.
Mrs. Stecker was employed with several area Nursing Homes as a CNA. Arlene enjoyed country living, working in her garden, painting, crocheting, crafts and the weekly get-togethers with her friends at the senior center. She especially enjoyed polkas, arm wrestling and food fights with her children. Arlene was a member of the “Golden Brushes” and had some of her works published. Many of Arlene’s art works and crafts were given to family and friends as gifts.
Mrs. Stecker is lovingly survived by her children, James Stecker of Marshfield, Kathy (Tom) Redmond of Pewaukee, Jeff Stecker of Arpin, Cheryl (Art) Hill of Green Bay, Judy Miller of Marietta, Ga., Cindy (Frank) Zickert of Arpin, Debbie (Gary) Andres of Marshfield, Diane (Tom) Orsi of Marengo, Ill., Tim Stecker of Arpin, Steve (Shelly) Stecker of Arpin and Sheila (Dan) Fjelstad of Cameron; one step daughter Bonnie Campbell of Chatfield, Minn., and fourteen grandchildren: Jesse, Samantha, Laura, Jenny, Jason, Jamie, Nicholas, Mike, Brad, Angie, Sarah, Seth, Adam and Abby.
Arlene is further survived by five great-grandchildren: Kailey, Kyle, Tyler, Savhanna and Brendan.
Preceding Mrs. Stecker in death were her parents, her husband in 1992, two daughters, Lori and Merydene; one grandson Rick Redmond; three sisters and one brother.
We’ll miss her practical jokes and the boys will miss her Granny Bars that she always made for family get-togethers. We’ll miss you Mother!

* Funeral services for August Stecker, formerly of Riplinger, who died in the Memorial Hospital, Wausau, Saturday at 7:30 A.M., at the age of 87 years, were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby Tuesday afternoon, Rev. F. J. Smith officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery.
Surviving are six children – Mrs. Joe Schhriendl of Marshfield, Hubert Stecker of Canada, Olga Rhodes of Milwaukee, Mrs. Carl Lumborg of Prentice, Mrs. Frank Tonn of Shawano, Mrs. Louis Goetz of Wausau.
Stecker, Barbara (1867? – 25 Jan. 1948)

* Mrs. Barbara Stecker, aged 81, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Meyer at 1:30 o’clock Monday afternoon in Colby. She had been in poor health for some time. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Reformed Lutheran Church Thursday afternoon with the Rev. E. P. Puhlman officiating. Internment was made in the Colby cemetery.
Stecker, Helen (26 Feb. 1861 – 4 Aug. 1931)

* Mrs. August Stecker of Riplinger, a sister in law of Mrs. B. Stecker of Colby, died suddenly at her home in Riplinger Tuesday morning, a stroke being the cause of her death. The deceased had reached the age of seventy years, five months and ten days. Funeral services will be held at the Colby Reformed church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, Rev. H. K. Hartmann officiating, and burial will take place in the Colby cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. August Stecker, whose death was chronicled in the Phonograph last week, were held at the Colby Reformed church Saturday, August 8th, Rev. H. K. Hartmann officiating and burial was made in the Colby cemetery. The pall bearers were Frank Duvall, Chas. Duvall, Fred Reinow, Ben Pipgorn, Gottlieb Schultz and Wm. Dommer.
The deceased was born in Holstein, Germany, Feb. 26, 1861, thus reaching the age of seventy years, five months and ten days. She came to the United States when twenty-one years of age and was married at Plymouth, Wis., forty-six years ago. She lived at Riplinger, Wis., for twenty-two years. She is survived by her husband, five daughters and one son, namely: Mrs. Laura Andraska, Marshfield; Mr. Hubert Stecker, Riplinger; Mrs. Olga Rhodes, Milwaukee; Mrs. Art. Bosma, Curtiss; Mrs. Frank Tonn, Park Ridge, Illinois; Mrs. Louis Gaetz, Riplinger.
The out of town people her for the funeral were the children and the following grand children: Mrs. G. Netherland, Park Ridge; Mr. Matt Andraska, Park Ridge; Mr. and Mrs. James Cartier, Ravenna, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Andraska, Marshfield.

* Arpin – Services for Sylvester H. Stecker, 77, who died at 5:13 p.m. Thursday at the Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hansen Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. John Schenck of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Duane Helgerson will be the soloist with Carol Snelling as organist. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and on Monday until time of services. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 475 of Arpin. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.
He was born Feb. 12, 1915, to Fred and Ida (Schreiber) Stecker of Colby. He attended Colby elementary and secondary schools. He married Alice I. Stelzl March 9, 1946, in Wautoma.
After his education, he worked at cheese factories and as a milk hauler. He moved to Minnesota and farmed there for several years. He returned to Colby where he farmed, worked as a milk hauler and worked in cheese factories. In 1950 he moved to Arpin where he farmed and did custom farm work until his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 475.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, James R. of Marshfield, Jeff S. of Arpin, Tim S. of Arpin and Steve K. of Marshfield; nine daughters, Mrs. Roy (Bonnie) Campbell of Chatsfield, Minn., Merrydene K. Ingham of Madison, Mrs. Thomas (Kathleen) D. Redmond of Pewaukee, Mrs. Arthur (Cheryl) Hill of Green Bay, Mrs. Ned (Judith) A. Miller of Marietta, Ga., Mrs. Frank (Cynthia) L. Zickert of Marshfield, Mrs. Gary (Debra) J. Andres of Marshfield, Diane M. Stecker of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and Mrs. Daniel (Sheila) R. Fjelstad of Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Erna) Callahan of Cumberland, and Mrs. Vernon (Jeanette) Sommer of Curtiss; one brother, Leo Stecker of Park Falls; and 13 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, one daughter, Lori Sue, in 1962, one brother, Floyd, and one brother and one sister, both in infancy.
