* Curtiss – Mrs. Alfred Thompson, 42, rural Curtiss, died at University Hospital Madison at 8:30 p.m. of injuries she received in a traffic mishap west of Medford on March 27. She had been hospitalized at Memorial Hospital in Medford and was removed to University Hospital about two weeks ago. Her death raises the highway toll to three in Taylor County.

Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Rev. Woodring officiating. Burial is to be in Pine Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home at Owen.

The former Esther Pudlas was born at Curtiss on Aug. 15, 1910, and was a lifelong resident of that area.

She attended Curtiss grade schools, the Wausau Business College, Taylor County Normal and the Eau Claire Business College. For nine years she taught in rural Curtiss schools.

Her marriage took place on June 6, 1936, here to Alfred Thompson. After their marriage, the couple lived in the village until 1947 when they moved to a farm north of here. She was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church, and its Missionary and Helping Hand Societies.

Surviving are her husband, two children, Dale, Willard, and Karen, at home. She is also survived by two grandchildren, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pudlas, Curtiss, and a sister, Mrs. Tolve (Grace) Kallio, route 2, Owen.

Thompson, Thea (26 Apr. 1885 – 4 Jan. 1949)

* Miss Thea Thompson, age 63, passed away on Tuesday evening, Jan. 4th, at 10:15 o’clock at the home of her sister and brother in law with whom she made her home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 7th, at 2:00 o’clock P.M. at the Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. G. E. Borreson officiating and burial will be made in the family lot in the parish cemetery.

The deceased was born in Curtiss on April 26, 1885. She was a lifelong teacher in the state public schools, for 22 years in the Beloit city schools. The past year she spent at home due to ill health. She was a graduate of the Colby High School and Central State Teachers College, Stevens Point.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Frank Matthias and Mrs. Edwin Peterson of Curtiss, Mrs. J. E. Simpson of Sturgeon Bay, Mrs. Ida Peterson of Monroe, Wash., three brothers, Theo and Arthur Thompson of Curtiss and Oscar Thompson of Los Angeles, Calif. A brother, Lt. Carl Thompson, lost his life in World War I.

* A large number of residents from Abbotsford and vicinity attended the funeral of Theodore Thompson, 69, held Saturday afternoon at the Evangelical Lutheran church, Curtiss, followed by internment there. The Rev. O. K. Odland officiated.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. H. H. Christofferson, W. J. Rush, Claude Whitney, Calvin Mills, John Miller, Harold Tonn and Orville Laabs.

Active pallbearers were A. M. Erickson, Emil R. Erickson, Cornell Erickson, Cornell Erickson, Gust Becken, Al Nelson, and Albert Bakke.

Mrs. A. M. Erickson, Mrs. William Steinke, Mrs. Ida Schiszik, Mrs. Anna Peterson, Mrs. Albert Bakke, Mrs. Marcus Hermanson, Mrs. Robert Nissen, Mrs. Amanda Borgemoen, and Miss Clara Peterson were in charge of floral arrangements.

Mr. Thompson was killed Wednesday about 3:30 in the afternoon, when he fell into a revolving saw while cutting wood on his farm.
