D.H. Griffith, chief engineer at the exposition building, met with a painful accident a day or two ago. While attending to the dynamo machines he slipped, falling backward, his arm being drawn in by the belting and but for timely assistance would have been seriously fractured.

George B. Owen, the well-known and popular board of trade man, was back on change today, after an enforced absence of four days, owing to a severe attack of influenza.

George Warner living near Plaukinton's slaughter house, reported to the police to-day that his wife, who, he says, is insane, left him home at 7 o'clock this morning, in a fit of despondency. He fears she contemplated suicide.
