Burcaw - Hoogland
The marriage of Miss Dorothy Hoogland, of Catawba, and Marvin Burcaw of
Milwaukee took place at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Catawba at 10
a.m. Saturday, June 9. The Rev. Schloemer performed the ceremony before an
altar decked with lilacs. Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. A. J.
Zorn.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father,
wore a floor length gown styled with a lace bodice, sleeves which came to a
point over the wrists and a Queen Anne collar. Tiers of Chantilly lace and
tulle over pleated satin formed the bouffant skirt. Her fingertip veil fell
from a crown of pearls and sequins and she wore a single strand of pearls
and earrings, a gift of the bridegroom. She carried a bouquet of pink roses
and white carnations.
Miss Alice Hoogland of Chicago was her sister’s only
attendant. She wore a gown of aqua crystalette, styled with a pleated bodice
and bouffant skirt. She wore a matching headpiece and gloves and carried a
bouquet of pink and white carnations. She wore pearls, a gift of the bride.
Al Davis of Grand Rapids, Mich., a friend of the
couple, was best man. Jerome Hoogland, brother of the bride, was usher.
The bride’s mother was attired in a navy sheer dress
with white accessories. She wore a corsage of pink and white carnations. The
groom’s mother wore a light blue nylon dress with matching accessories. Her
corsage was of pink and white carnations.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and reception was held
at the church hall for about 300 guests. The hall was decorated with white,
pink and aqua streamers and lilies of the valley.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Hoogland,
of Catawba, graduated from Phillips high school and is a 1955 graduate of
Eau Claire State college. She taught second grade at Abbotsford during the
past year.
The bridegroom, son of Mrs. L. Burcaw of Prentice,
attended school in Prentice. He is at present engaged in construction work
in Milwaukee where the newlyweds will reside.
Many relatives and friends were present at the wedding
from Chicago, Milwaukee, Evanston, St. Paul, Minneapolis, South Holland,

Edlund - Norman
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edlund have returned from a short wedding trip and
are making their home at Twenty-second avenue west and Second street. They
were married last Tuesday at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John Norman of Ogema, Wis. The bride’s maiden name was Mary Norman.

Foster - Henkel
A pretty fall wedding took place Monday morning at 8:30 o’clock at St.
Mary’s Catholic church of Colby when Miss Carol Henkel, daughter of Charles
Henkel of the town of Hull, became the bride of Marcellus Foster, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Alvin Foster, of the town of Colby. Rev. L. J. Lang performed the
marriage ceremony. Miss Dolores Will of Stevens Point, cousin of the groom,
acted as bridesmaid and Cornelius Foster, brother of the groom, was best
man.
The bride was attired in a brown suit with brown
accessories and her shoulder bouquet consisted of yellow roses. Miss Will
wore a blue ensemble with matching accessories and her shoulder bouquet
consisted of pink roses.
A reception and dinner for the immediate families was
held at the Henkel home which was nicely decorated with fall flowers for the
occasion. Later the couple departed for Park Falls where the groom is
employed and where they will reside.
Out of town guests included Mrs. Jack Hobelsberger and
daughter, Shirley May, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Zimmer, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Will
and Miss Mary Engelbeck of Marshfield and Miss Dolores Will of Stevens

Glaeser - Friday
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Friday of Colby, Route 1, have announced the marriage
of their daughter, Geraldine, to Robert Glaeser, son of Mrs. Minnie Glaeser
of Park Falls. The ceremony was performed in St. Anthony’s Rectory in Park
Falls at 11 o’clock on the morning of August 16.
The couple was attended
by the groom’s twin cousins, Bob and Betty Mader. A reception for the
immediate families and friends was held at the Glaeser home following the

Kreklau - Wojcik
The marriage of Miss Leocadia Wojcik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
Wojcik of Spencer to Le Roy Kreklau, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Kreklau, was
solemnized at the 9:30 mass in St. Albert’s Catholic church, McMillan, on
Wednesday, June 19th. Roses, lilies of the valley and lighted candles
adorned the altar for the occasion.
A long white satin gown,
made with puffed sleeves and tiny white buttons down the back, was worn by
the bride. Her tulle veil hung in a long train from a crown head dress of
seed pearls. The bridal bouquet was made of roses and baby’s breath.
Miss Anna Wojcik, sister
of the bride, in a gown of blue satin and Miss Frances Novak of Junction
City in a frock of pink organdy, attended the bride. Both wore wreaths in
their hair and carried bouquets of carnations and sprays of baby’s breath.
Leo Wojcik, brother of
the bride and Alvin Kreklau were the groom’s attendants.
About ninety guests
attended the reception at the home of the bride’s parents, where dinner and
supper were served. The home was decorated with roses and streamers of
white, pink and blue. In the evening a dance was given at the County
Ballroom, near Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Kreklau are
making their home near Ogema, route two, where the groom is engaged in the
garage business.
Among the many guests who
attended the wedding were the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Kreklau,
his brothers, Alvin and Glenn, and his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. John Wojcik, and family of Ogema. Mrs. Ernest Miller and son and
daughter and Mrs. Otto Prieb, and son, sisters of Mrs. Karl Kreklau, of

MARRIED AT PHILLIPS
PHILLIPS, Wis., Jan. 10. – Miss Marjorie Hunt, the pretty and accomplished
daughter of E. L. Hunt, a leading business man of this place, was married
today to Dr. Ralph E. Morter of Milwaukee. The ceremony was attended by many

Mueller - Oehler
In an afternoon ceremony performed at Christ Lutheran Church of
Abbotsford on Saturday. Miss Betty Lou Oehler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Cecil Oehler of Abbotsford became the bride of Robert John Mueller, son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Mueller, also of Abbotsford. The Rev. F. H. Sprengler
officiated at the 2:00 o’clock double ring ceremony, at which time the bride
was given in marriage by her father. Herbert Juneau sang two selections
during the services, “O Promise Me” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
The bride’s gown was designed with a fitted bodice of
Chantilly lace, detailed with a sweetheart neckline and long lace sleeves
that came to points at the wrists. The full skirt was formed of a lace apron
effect front over tiers of net and satin. Her short cape shape veil was
trimmed with tiny seed pearls and inserts of pleated net. Her bouquet was of
red roses and white carnations tied with white ribbon and blue beads.
Miss Donna Miller, Abbotsford, niece of the groom,
attended the bride as maid of honor, while Mrs. Walter Miller of Marshfield
and Mrs. Lorraine Manthe of Abbotsford were bridesmaids. The bridal
attendants were dressed identically in ballerina length gowns with skirts of
net over taffeta, and velvet bodices and bolero jackets. They wore matching
head pieces trimmed with tiny seed pearls, and matching blue slippers. The
maid of honor carried yellow carnations and white pompons tied with yellow
ribbon and the bridesmaids’ floral pieces were pink carnations and white
pompons, tied with pink ribbon.
Ronald Graffunder, Abbotsford, cousin of the bride,
attended the groom as best man. Walter Miller of Marshfield, nephew of the
groom, and Fred Kieser, Abbotsford, acted as groomsmen. Donald Oehler,
brother of the bride, and Myron Greaser, friend of the groom, were ushers.
The bride’s mother wore a navy dress with black
accessories and the groom’s mother was dressed in a black accessories. Their
corsages were alike, of yellow and white roses.
A reception was held at the bride’s home from 3:00 to
5:00 o’clock, and a 6:00 o’clock supper was served in the church basement
for about 150 guests. A dance was held at the Dorchester Memorial Hall in
the evening. Relatives and friends attended from Minneapolis, Milwaukee, La
Crosse, Jefferson City, Appleton, Park Falls, Spencer, Medford, Marshfield,
Catawba, and Abbotsford.
The bride is a graduate of Lincoln high school of Park
Falls and attended Eau Claire State college for one year. The groom is a
graduate of Abbotsford high school and operates the LP Gas Services and
Appliances.
When they return from a short honeymoon they will live

Odegaard - Hellum
Iron River, Oct. 20. – (Special) – Miss Esther Hellum, a former Iron
River girl was married to George L. Odegaard. Both young people live at Park
Falls and the wedding took place at the home of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. E.
G. Hedquist of this city attended the ceremony. Mrs. Hedquist and Mrs.

Miss Ida Coleman of this city and Samuel Pollard of Park Falls, Wis.,
