Racine --- The sixty-ninth birthday anniversary of Hiram J. Smith was made the excuse for a "surprise" party. Mr. Smith as a past department commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. There were present from Milwaukee past department commanders: Col. A. G. Weissert, Capt. Joseph P. Rundle, Capt. O. W. Carlson and Col. J. A. Watrous. Others were: Past commanders W. H. Grinnel of Beloit, John W Games of Ripon, R. B. Lang of Racine, and George W. Spratt of Sheboygan Falls.

Mr. & Mrs. Tyerrell Wenszell (50th Wedding Anniversary)

Mr. and Mrs. Tyerrell Wenszell, 1500 Grove Ave., will mark their golden wedding anniversary. They will receive guests from 2 to 5 p. m. and from 7 to 9 p. m. The couple has four children, Mrs. Pierre St. Onge, St. Paul, Minn., Alfred H. Wenszell and Robert B. Wenszell of Racine, and Lee Wenszell of Kenosha. They were married on Oct 19, 1897.
