GOLDEN WEDDING

The fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Col. Adin Burdick and his wife, the parents of our townsman, Elish Burdick, Esq., was celebrated at their residence near Edgerton, on Saturday last, the 13th instant.

The children of the venerable couple, comprising three sons and five daughters, all of whom are married and settled in this county, near the paternal homestead, with grandchildren and other relatives, altogether numbered some fifty-five persons, assembled to tender their congratulations and gifts after the manner of this time-honored custom.

The respected and honored subjects of the occasion, now nearly four score years of age, were in excellent health, retaining their faculties in a remarkable degree, and received the hearty and affectionate greetings of their children and others with great enjoyment.

Col. burdick is a native of Stonington, Ct., and removed from Brookfield, Madison Co., N.Y., in 1842, where he had resided some forty-five years, and settled at his present home in the town of Albion. He was one of the first settlers of that portion of the county, and has always been known as an energetic business man and foremost in efforts to promote the public good. He comes to the winter of his life surrounded by neighbors and relatives who honor and respect him for his sterling integrity, fearless advocacy of whatever he believes to be right, as well as for his uniform kindness and liberality; and we trust the aged couple may yet enjoy together many years of solid comfort.
